I've worked on this for the days leading up to today, because couldn't stop crying enough to do it in one sitting.
The world lost one of the most amazing dogs ever today... My champion. My hero. My partner in crime. Voodoo. House of Voodoo's Dark Magic. 12/27/2015 - 8/31/2026 @ 4:25pm
You've been my closest partner for nearly 11 years. We've done it all. We've inspired others, cheered them on, survived the worst things imaginable together, endured hard times, struggled, grew, explored.
I really can say with confidence, you were a once in a lifetime dog. And no dog will ever compare to you. Anything I asked of you, you showed up, showed off, and showed out. You managed to be the star of everything we faced together. I've literally almost taken a bullet, for you, and you were willing to do the same for me to protect me from a horrible person.
To say I'm going to miss you? Doesn't even compare. The amount of pain this brought me is unbearable. I've cried more over this than I have in 32 years. I've lost people, pets, relationships, friendships, myself , and none of it compares to the pain of losing you. I have no idea how I'm going to bravely walk this earth without you in my shadow, watching & protecting me as if your life depends on it.
This isn't the end, this is.. until we meet again. And it'll be the longest wait of my life. Today was the hardest day of my life. And will forever be. I would have given everything in my soul, to give you just a little while longer. But life is unfair like that. If you lived as long as me, we'd be too powerful, we'd conquer the world together.
You were such a life-changing dog to me that you are the reason I started House of Voodoo Kennels, where you & I have helped hundreds of dogs have better lives. That wasn't possible without you.
You've helped me manage an impossible diagnosis to manage, helping keep me safe, and teaching so many other dogs and handlers how to be a team. How to handle day to day life as a service dog handler, and how to get their team to the highest standards. You inspired me to help others, and I do. I try to help everyone I cross paths with. Even if it hurts me. But I could do so knowing you were there for me. You were my first Malinois. Everyone told me at the beginning "you won't be able to handle him" "thats too much dog".
You were never too much. You were perfect. If I had the money, I'd clone you in a heartbeat. But I know you'd never be you. Because there's only one Voodoo for me. My magic man, my Boo. My Dingus. My boy. My soulmate in the form of a dog. You were supposed to walk with me down the isle to officially start our new chapter. But I will do everything I can to make sure you are still honored in our wedding so you can still be there in presence.
You'll only be away from me for a few short days, and then you'll be on a necklace close to my heart forever on, where you will always be. You'll be there to help me guide every dog and team I come across from here on out. Because without you, I wouldn't be a 1/8 of the dog trainer I am today. I'll miss you, Voodoo. Keep Jinx & Dutchess safe for me a the bridge. I'll be there when it's my time. We'll play ball until my arms falls off. I love you boy.
