A New Chapter at WayMaker Orientals & Siamese 🤍
As we look toward the future of WayMaker, we’ve made some thoughtful decisions about how we will manage our breeding program, kitten inquiries, and placements moving forward.
Beginning immediately, we will be moving away from our traditional kitten waitlist and will no longer accept deposits or applications for kittens before they reach 12 weeks of age.
This means we will not be discussing individual kitten availability, accepting questionnaires, or maintaining a new waiting list while kittens are still developing. Once kittens reach 12 weeks of age, we will evaluate them individually and begin considering potential homes. As always, our kittens will not leave WayMaker until approximately 15–16 weeks of age, after completing their veterinary care and being cleared for placement.
Why are we making this change?
WayMaker has always been, and will remain, a very small, intentional preservation breeding program.
Our breeding decisions are never based on the number of people waiting for kittens, requests for specific colors or sexes, or the pressure to fulfill a waiting list. We never want to find ourselves feeling obligated to breed our cats simply because someone is patiently waiting for a kitten.
Every breeding decision we make is guided by our long-term goals for the Oriental Shorthair and Siamese breeds. We carefully consider genetic diversity, health, temperament, structure, and the physical characteristics outlined in the breed standard. Our goal is not to produce more kittens, but to thoughtfully contribute to the future of the breeds we love so dearly.
We also want the freedom to evaluate each kitten as it grows, without the expectations or commitments that can come with early reservations. Their health, development, and individual needs must always come first.
What about our current waiting list?
We deeply appreciate everyone who has supported WayMaker and trusted us enough to join our waiting list.
Those who are currently on our waiting list are welcome to remain on it and retain their existing priority under our new approach. If you are on our waitlist, please reach out to us individually and we can discuss any details or questions.
As always, placements will be made selectively, with an emphasis on finding exceptional homes that truly understand, appreciate, and value everything that makes these breeds so special.
We have never believed that every kitten belongs in every home. The right match matters far more to us than simply placing a kitten.
When will kittens be available again?
At this time, we anticipate that spring 2027 will be the earliest we have kittens available for new homes.
Until we have kittens who have reached 12 weeks of age and are ready to be considered for placement, we will not be accepting new waitlist requests, questionnaires, applications, or inquiries about individual kitten availability.
We will absolutely continue sharing our beautiful cats, show adventures, milestones, personalities, and everyday fun here on Facebook! We love sharing this journey and hope you will continue enjoying it with us.
This change will allow us to devote more of our time and energy to what matters most: the daily care and well-being of our cats, thoughtful breeding plans, attending shows, evaluating our kittens as they mature, and supporting the wonderful families who have already welcomed WayMaker cats into their lives.

We are incredibly proud of what we are building at WayMaker, and protecting the integrity of our small program is something we take seriously.
We want every litter to be the result of a carefully considered decision, every kitten to receive the individual attention it deserves, and every placement to feel right for both the kitten and its future family.
