Pets love to play and don’t always know their limits, so it’s up to you to set firm boundaries on what’s safe and what’s not. This includes AVOIDING:

🚫 Exercise during inclement or extreme weather (including heat)
🚫 Slippery surfaces
🚫 Overexertion (stop before your pet gets tired)
🚫 “Weekend warrior” syndrome (moderate, consistent exercise is best)

Despite your best efforts, accidents sometimes happen. If you notice your pet is painful or behaving abnormally, contact your veterinarian for guidance.

Not all exercise is created equal! 🏋️ Inappropriate or excessive exercise can harm your pet’s joints, worsen painful arthritis, or lead to heatstroke, orthopedic injuries, or other serious conditions.

Exercise responsibly: Talk to your veterinarian about your pet’s daily routine during every wellness visit to ensure your chosen activities and their duration and frequency are appropriate and safe for your pet’s health, body condition, and life stage!

Meet Ivan, one of Dr. Phelan’s acupuncture patients. 🐾💙

Yes, dogs can get acupuncture, too! Veterinary acupuncture uses very thin needles placed at specific points on the body. It can be used alongside traditional veterinary medicine to support your pet’s comfort and overall quality of life.

Depending on your pet’s needs, acupuncture may help with:
• Managing chronic pain
• Supporting mobility, especially for older pets or those with joint concerns
• Supporting recovery after surgery or injury
• Promoting relaxation and reducing stress

Every pet is different, so Dr. Phelan tailors acupuncture sessions to the individual patient and the areas where they may benefit most.

And judging by Ivan’s relaxed smile, he looks pretty comfortable with the whole idea. 😊
