Aboite Animal Hospital is a locally owned small animal and exotic veterinary hospital. Over the past 4 decades, we have developed a reputation as a veterinary hospital which serves our community with the utmost honesty, integrity and compassion. Dr. Dan Rodgers started the practice in 1973. After 45 years of practice, he retired in 2018 and sold the practice to Dr. Brian Koesters, Dr. Bill Chastai

n, and Dr. Jamie Stover. We have 4 veterinarians on staff: Dr. Bill Chastain, Dr. Linda Parker, Dr. Nicole Koch, and Dr. Cassie Ceckowski. Our doctors are supported by several registered veterinary nurses, assistants and client service representatives. Together, we strive to deliver the best care possible for each individual patient and their family. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards of veterinary medicine. We are an AAHA accredited practice (American Animal Hospital Association), as well as a Certified Cat Friendly practice. Our staff regularly receives fear-free training to help those patients who are anxious and nervous when coming in for an exam or receiving medical care while in hospital.

We had a very special (and slow-moving 😉) visitor at the hospital yesterday! Abrams is a 6-year-old tortoise who tipped the scales at an impressive 50 pounds!

Before his wellness exam, Abrams made himself right at home exploring the clinic, taking in all the sights, and enjoying a well-deserved apple snack. 🍎 He certainly kept us smiling during his visit!

👀 Your pet may be acting fine… but are they really?

Pets don't always show us when they're uncomfortable or not feeling their best. Sometimes the first clues are small changes that are easy to brush off.

A change in weight. Avoiding the litter box. Drinking more or less. Sleeping more. Not wanting to jump like they used to.

These little changes can be worth paying attention to. 🐾

Some pets show little to no signs of certain medical conditions until they've progressed. A yearly exam gives your veterinarian the opportunity to detect subtle changes, answer your questions, and address concerns before they become bigger (and often more expensive) problems.

As always, remember to remove seeds, peels, cores, pits and rinds. And cut the treats into an appropriate size to avoid a choking hazard!

☀️🍔 Backyard BBQs are one of the best parts of summer—but they can also bring some unexpected dangers for our pets!

While you're enjoying burgers, hot dogs, and all the delicious sides, remember that some common cookout foods can be harmful (or even life-threatening) if your furry family members get ahold of them.

A few things to keep out of reach:
🌽 Corn cobs
🍢 Skewers
🥩 Fatty meats and table scraps
🧅 Foods containing onions or garlic
🍇 Grapes and raisins
🍺 Alcoholic beverages
🗑️ Trash bags full of leftovers

The safest way for pets to join the fun is by keeping them away from the grill and food prep area, asking guests not to sneak them table scraps, and making sure all leftovers and garbage are securely put away.
