🎉 We are excited to announce the newest member of our surgery team, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Mitch Sadowitz!🎉

Dr. Sadowtiz originally began his veterinary journey in Syracuse NY working as an assistant at Stack Veterinary Hospital during college where he developed a strong interest in surgery. In 2021, Dr. Sadowitz graduated from The Ohio State University with his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. After graduating, Dr. Sadowitz successfully completed a small animal rotating internship at Tufts University and a small animal surgery rotating internship at a private practice in Park City UT. Dr. Sadowitz then returned to The Ohio State University and completed a small animal surgery residency in 2026. In his spare time, Dr. Sadowitz enjoys fishing, boating, road trips and spending time with family and friends.

Meet Abby! Abby has been with NIVES since 2019 and is a vital part of our inpatient team. In her role she helps to care for patients who require hospitalization and constant care in our Intensive Care Unit. This requires advanced skills in veterinary medicine as well as patience and compassion, not only for our patients but for their families as well. NIVES is lucky to have skilled and passionate ICU technicians like Abby to care for our most in need patients 24/7!

Abby says: "What I like about NIVES is being able to help animals in our community and surrounding communities and being able to advance my skills."

As temperatures cool and routines change, fall brings a few seasonal hazards for pets to keep in mind:

🍁 Keep pets away from mushrooms and other unknown plants they may find outdoors.

🎃 Keep pumpkins, decorations, and seasonal treats out of reach. Some foods and decorations can be dangerous if swallowed.

🕷️ Continue flea and tick prevention. Parasites remain active in many areas even as temperatures drop.

🌡️ Watch the weather. Cooler temperatures can be uncomfortable or dangerous, especially for small, senior, or short coated pets.

A little preparation can help keep your pet safe and healthy throughout the season. And if your pet gets into something they should not, our emergency team is here when you need us.
