What a whirlwind of a Memorial Day weekend 🐾🇺🇸

From overnight guests to morning, midday, and evening drop-ins, it was a full few days of tail wags, cuddles, and lots of happy puppies and kitties. Busy weekends like this are a reminder of just how much trust my clients place in me to care for their pets while they spend quality time away with family and friends—and I never take that for granted.

Somehow in the middle of all the holiday chaos, I also found time to volunteer at the Chip Chip Hooray event with the Fort Wayne Pitbull Coalition (FWPBC) helping dogs and cats get microchipped so they have a better chance of being safely returned home if they ever become lost.

Thankful for every client who continues to support my small business and allows me to love and care for their babies like my own 🖤

Memorial Day is more than just the start of summer — it’s a time to reflect, remember, and show gratitude for the freedoms we have because of those who served. As someone with family members who have served, this day holds a special meaning for me.

A few pet safety reminders while celebrating:
• Keep pets indoors during fireworks and loud gatherings
• Make sure collars/tags are up to date in case they get startled
• Avoid feeding BBQ foods like onions, grapes, corn cobs, bones, or alcohol
• Provide plenty of fresh water and shade during outdoor activities
• Never leave pets in parked vehicles — even for a few minutes

This position is best suited for someone who is reliable, motivated, communicates well, pays attention to detail, and understands the importance of showing up and getting the job done — especially when caring for someone else’s pets and home.

Requirements:
• Reliable transportation
• Minimum of 2 years of animal handling experience (small and/or large animals)
• Ability to communicate clearly and ask questions when needed
• Vet tech experience/background is a major plus

Potential earnings of $24+/hour based on availability, experience, and workload.

If cost has been a barrier, now is a great opportunity to get your fur baby spayed or neutered for a low cost. ❤️
Spaying and neutering can greatly reduce the risk of certain health issues, including mammary and testicular cancers, pyometra (a life-threatening uterine infection), and some prostate problems. It also helps prevent unexpected litters and supports efforts to reduce the already overwhelming number of homeless pets in our communities. 🐾
