Hello Horse community. We’ve been hit again with a very targeted theft. It is one year to the date of when we were hit last year. (Last year we were so shocked we didn’t post for a day or two but the theft was the same day) for this reason, we suspect it may be the same person. Please be on the lookout for this Pessoa jumping saddle. Please please please tell someone if you see it. It was so bizarre. They hit only our small barn and left all other very valuable items, and didn’t hit our big barn at all which has the most valuable items. It was specific to this saddle. It had my daughter’s nameplate on the cantle but I’m sure that’s already been removed. Please share so the entire horse community sees it.

Look who got a long long long long overdue workout! Considering all the big girl cuddles at the end, I think she had more fun than we did! Thanks to Thomas for donating his stable time to a long term idea! Thanks Austin for letting us use your big girl since you know it’s so good for her!

URGENT NOTICE FOR EQUINE OWNERS!

An aggressive strain of EHV-1 known as Equine Herpes Myeloencephalopathy has been confirmed over the last few days in Texas. Equine Herpes Myeloencephalopathy (EHM) is a neurologic disease linked to the Equine Herpes Virus (EHV-1). EHV-1 in horses can cause respiratory disease, abortion, and neonatal death. Neurological signs such as hind-end weakness, incoordination, urine dribbling, and the inability to stand can appear as a result of damage to blood vessels in the equine brain and spinal cord. The virus can spread directly by nose-to-nose contact or through the air when infected horses cough or sneeze, and can also travel on equipment, tack, buckets, and even human hands or clothing. Owners must be extremely careful when taking care of your horses day to day needs. This virus is extremely contagious. Please take proactive precautions to protect your horses and barns.

The Texas Animal Health Commission is currently requiring horses impacted by the Central Texas outbreak to stay home. Safety regulations from the Commission includes isolating horses that attended the early November Waco, Texas barrel racing event for at least 21 days. Owners should suspend all event travel for exposed horses, disinfecting all shared equipment, monitoring temperatures twice daily, and contacting your veterinarian immediately if fever or other symptoms appear.

Additionally any horse showing respiratory or neurological symptoms should be isolated right away. Temperatures over 101.5 need to be discussed with your veterinarian immediately. Handlers should use protective gear at all times to help reduce the possibility of cross contamination. Your Equine Veterinarian should be contacted immediately if you suspect your horse has become ill.

Here at EVS we are available to help you if needed. We strongly suggest a booster unless your horse has received one in the last 90-days. We prefer to give the intranasal flu-avert in conjunction with a Rhino Vaccine. The goal is to help decrease the EHV-1 viral shedding. If you have questions call us @ 972-524-7075 for more information. Please remember - nothing is completely protective with the Neurological form of this virus yet your horse's immunities will be boosted if treated with this protocol.

If you have an in-clinic appointment with us, please do not unload your horses before checking-in at the EVS Front Office. An EVS staff member will come out and help you after taking your horse/horses temperature and asking a few questions. We need your help to continue to protect all horse at our facility.

HERE AT EVS we do NOT have any cases and are not treating any horse that has a confirmed case at this time. 🤠

Happy Anniversary Sheridan Stables! 15 years ago we started this business adventure. Our first boarder was Della, of course. She’s been our stables icon from day one. Thanks for all the support!

Hope everybody is keeping it cool out there! Dreamy likes to help us with that around here!

Hello horse community. Not sure if anyone else has experienced theft out there lately but we have been hit. As expensive as horses are, these losses really sting. Asking that my horse friends keep a lookout for these things on local sales pages and possibly ebay. We’re missing a white Mattes shimmable half pad - value new is $300, missing a baker sheet lightweight 82”, and this won’t pop up but we lost a just opened two month supply of farriers formula with a blue half cup measuring cup inside. Please keep a lookout. Never feels good to lose things when we fight so hard to pay for the things our horses need.

UPDATE: I found out that I can file a police report and I am going to!
