I didn’t realize when I said goodbye to Trooper before my trip that it would be the last time.

If I did..I would’ve turned the hose on for him to bite one last time, let him take Kris’s side of the bed when he was staying with us, sneak him treats and chews that Mike would never let him have, take him to the Wissahickon to swim with Alf.

But that’s the thing with life…we never know when it is the last time. So if you take anything from this Instagram page, I hope it’s to take your dog with you.

You aren’t going to spend your whole life with your dog, but they are going to spend theirs with you.

Rent the dog friendly Airbnb on the lake.
Sit out on the patio and bring them to your favorite brunch spot.
Take them for an extra long walk on that random nice February day.
Bring them just for the ride.
Go out for a game of fetch even though you’re too tired after a long day.
Bring them to your son’s baseball game.

I promise you will never regret spending more time with your dog.

Until we meet again ❤️‍🩹

Trooper came into our lives when we weren’t looking, and left just as unexpectedly last night, and far too soon 💔

He had multiple organ failure, likely due to cancer that had metastasized. He was thankfully in no pain and had no symptoms at all until yesterday. We are in complete shock and totally heartbroken 💔

He was incredibly quirky, fiercely protective, amazingly loyal, and SO so loving.

He was never happier than when we had a yard or pool filled with kids, or on the sidelines keeping DJ Mike company and chasing overthrows. He loved ice cubes, peanut butter, other dogs, and kids. He hated car rides, delivery people, and baths. He was the worst behaved dogs at daycare (herding breed-IYKYK), an absolute gem at home, and a total party animal everywhere else.

We are so grateful for the outpouring of love, calls, texts, flowers, and visits. We have never known a home without a pet, and we know he and Sim will be watching over us ….somewhere over the rainbow 🌈
