😄Starting the weekend with a BIG "Thank you" 🙏from Blackjack for all his lovely gifts. We are thrilled to share that he will be reunited forever with his former sibling Gigi in a wonderful new home that stepped up to take them both! Paws crossed that the trial goes well 🤞🏽🐾
Thanks to your kindness Blackjack will already be kitted out with items that are familiar to him when he transitions to his new home and that will make settling in that bit easier. It truly takes a village...thank you for being part of our Rescue village.... adopter, foster, volunteer, donor...we all can make a difference ✔

One of our volunteers happened across a FB post from a wonderful lady who had happened across a dachshund in need: We stepped in, recruited the family and are now looking to secure Queen Esther a permanent, loving home where she can continue to be treated in the royal manner she deserves.

Here's their story told in foster mom's own words:
" Meet Queen Esther!
A week ago, I found this sweet senior Dachshund who was abandoned and alone. After completing her 7-day hold and no owner coming forward, Queen Esther is now looking for the forever home she deserves.
Despite everything she has been through, Queen Esther has shown us nothing but love, trust, and a gentle spirit. She gets along well with Ezra, has been wonderful with C**t, and has shown no signs of aggression. She simply wants to be near her people and be part of a family.
Queen Esther has a veterinary appointment scheduled for Saturday, where she will receive a full evaluation and any care needed to help her continue on her journey to a healthy, happy future.
As we begin the search for Queen Esther’s forever home, I also want to give a huge thank you to The Rescued Rescuers: Dachshunds and Friends of the Emerald Coast. They have been absolutely amazing throughout this entire process—answering questions, providing guidance, arranging veterinary care, and supporting both Esther and us every step of the way. They are who we are fostering her through. They also gave us a mentor, Leigh Johnson Rice and she has been absolutely amazing as well.
If you’ve ever considered fostering, I encourage you to reach out to them. There is a tremendous need for foster homes, and organizations like this make it possible for dogs like Queen Esther to get a second chance at life."

We love to show the results of how a little kindness can truly make a difference.
Here's an update on Hershey from his foster mom:
"Just showing off Hershey's progress...I don't always notice it because I see him every day, but he IS making progress...look closely at his front legs and you will see a lovely brown sheen of new growth that has come in. You can't really see it, but his skin is also MUCH healthier, his eyes sparkle (and have tears thanks to his meds!!, and his tail wags a LOT more. THIS is what rescue is all about...helping those who can't help themselves find health and happiness! 🙂 In Hershey's case, it just happens to be visible to the eye AND the heart. 🥰"

Thank you for being along with us on Hershey's journey; just sharing his story helps our mission and his healing.

Taking a moment to share a personal PSA today: Every summer on this day I remember my special boy who brought me 18 wonderful years of love, and who was lost tragically in a pool accident when entrusted to another. The heartbreak was unfathomable and if reading this reminds one person to never leave their pup unattended near water, then I make no apology. As we all enjoy more outdoor time, keep them safe...they rely on us.
In memory of Fritz💔

👑 Meet Queen Esther! 👑
Queen Esther is a sweet senior Dachshund with a heart full of love and a remarkable story of resilience. She was found abandoned and alone near the reservation and appeared to have been surviving on her own for quite some time. When help arrived, Esther ran straight toward me as if she knew she was finally safe.
Despite everything she has been through, Esther remains incredibly trusting, affectionate, and gentle. There truly is not a mean bone in her body. She loves being around her people and would happily spend her day following you from room to room, supervising all of your activities.
Queen Esther gets along wonderfully with our Labrador and has been fantastic with our 2-year-old grandson. We have observed no aggression toward people or other dogs. She enjoys companionship and seems happiest when she is part of the family.
She walks well on a leash and enjoys exploring the yard and going for walks. Her energy level is low to moderate—she still enjoys activity but is also perfectly content to relax and cuddle with her favorite humans. She enjoys longer walks in a stroller.
Esther is doing well with house training and consistently goes outside when her family is home. She has had occasional accidents when left alone, which we believe may be related to stress or separation anxiety after being abandoned. She can be vocal when separated from her people and would thrive in a home that can provide patience, reassurance, and lots of love.
When Esther arrived, her coat was severely matted, her skin was irritated, and her teeth were in poor condition. Her skin is healing nicely, and she has a veterinary appointment scheduled for Saturday to evaluate her overall health and determine any additional care she may need.
The perfect home for Queen Esther is one where she can enjoy her golden years surrounded by love, companionship, and comfort. She would do well with another friendly dog or as the cherished center of attention in a home where someone is around much of the day.
If you’re looking for a loyal companion, a gentle soul, and a tiny queen who deserves a happily-ever-after, Queen Esther may be the perfect addition to your family. ❤️🐾
