🐾 After the Storm: Keep Those Paws Safe! 🐾
As our community continues cleaning up after Hurricane Issesi, we want to remind pet parents that storm debris and hidden dangers can pose serious risks to our four-legged family members.
Before heading out for your daily walks, keep an eye out for:
🐾 Sharp Debris: Broken glass, nails, roofing shingles, metal, and splintered wood can cause painful injuries to sensitive paw pads.
⚡ Downed Power Lines: Stay far away from fallen power lines, even if they appear inactive. They may be hidden beneath branches or standing water.
💧 Standing Water: Puddles and floodwaters can contain harmful bacteria, chemicals, sewage, and sharp objects. Don't let your pets walk through or drink from them.
🐍 Displaced Wildlife: Snakes, alligators, and other wildlife may have moved into unfamiliar areas following the storm. Be especially cautious around brush piles and standing water.
🐕 Unfamiliar Surroundings: Storm damage can change familiar sights, smells, and surroundings. Even the most well-behaved pets can become frightened or disoriented. Keep your dogs leashed, even in familiar areas, and check fences before letting them outside.
❤️ A little extra caution goes a long way! Stick to familiar, cleared walking routes, keep those curious noses away from debris, and check your pet's paws after every outing.
Our community has a lot of cleanup and recovery ahead, and that includes making sure our furry family members stay safe along the way. 🐾💙
