These guys are amazing at cleaning up bubble algae. They love to pick a spot within your rockwork to hang out and it's very fun to try to have guests in your home guess where they are hanging out!

If you haven't been in to see us in a bit, come check things out at your local saltwater reef store! We recently got some new lights up on our display tank as well as our rock flower anemone tank. Things are looking bright and lovely under the blues.

We have sexy shrimp in stock! These guys will dance the days away on top of their favorite anemone. They are a super fun addition to a smaller reef system where you'll be able to see them a little better since they are so little. Hours of Operation: 4-7pm Thursday 4-7pm Friday 11-6pm Saturday 11-5pm Sunday.

With this storm on the horizon, I realized this is a good time to share this. Give this a good read, and save it for the future

Hurricane Prepardness tips:
Long Post but very informative.
I just wanted to take some time and talk about dealing with Reef Tanks and Hurricanes. Here are some tips of things you will need to do to keep your reef alive.
If you have a home generator I am not speaking to you as you already have a plan in place and well on your way. There will be some things in here that I would recommend as well.
If you are running a generator for your tank, All you need to make sure is running is you return pump and 1 powerhead. Use your generator for you personal reasons.
If you do not have a generator this is mainly for you. The first thing that you need to do is go purchase 5 gallons of RO water or make your own and freeze as many ziplock bags that you have and empty bottles that you have. As next week we are all looking at temps in the upper 90’s this will become very important as you loose power your AC will not be on. These frozen ziplock bags or bottles of RO will help cool the tank and the leaking bags wont hurt the tank as it is normal top off water.
Next, go purchase a battery operated air stone. Whether its a bait one with the small little blue ball or you are able to get a long air strip, anything is better than nothing. Run this for at least 15 minutes and hour in every tank. This will provide enough oxygen for your fish to survive and corals for hours till you do it again. While running this I would recommend running carbon as well, the biggest reason is it will help with ammonia buildup and it will help once all of your soft corals start excreting their skins as they are getting stressed out.
Now if you are unable to acquire any of this. Then I would get a gallon pitcher from you sweet tea or koolaid and take 10-15 pitchers out an hour and pour it back in. This will re oxygen the tank. One thing to mention when doing this. DO NOT DISTRUB YOUR SAND. Pour it along your glass to keep it from disturbing the sand. I would do this every hour for every tank.
Last but not least, do NOT feed your tank, Unless you return pump is running. Fish can go up to 14 days without food, feeding off of various things in the tank. Also, do not refreeze your frozen food. Most of the time they spoil with power outages. I would recommend New Life Spectrum small pellets, to have ready for food once power is restored. DO not overfeed once power comes on. Most things will not really want to eat as they are stressed, So think about your self with a cold it takes time. So start slow do not over feed.
Once the storm is over and you have everything running again, now its time for disaster recovery. What I would recommend here is a 10% water change every 3 days for a total of 4 water changes. Unless your tank smells or looks really bad then i would do a 25% water change every other day for a total of 4 changes.
