We will have a butt load of beetles in the next couple of weeks.
Might be time for another breeding drawer setup.

Well we've been waiting on a clutch of hognose eggs to hatch the past couple of days. I checked on them and noticed movement in the clutch under them. Upon checking these 2 little faces were staring back at me. Granted they were only layed 2 days apart , but I guess they're ready anyways. Here we go!!!!!!!!!

While checking our cameras tonight we noticed one of our red head agama girls is getting a little thick. We're hoping for fertile eggs from her in the near future.

Happy Easter to all our fb friends and family .

It's definitely a happy Easter here at DRE as our axanthic girl gave us 8 good and 4 slug Easter eggs. Hopefully this pairing proves out and we have some visual snows in the mix.

OMG!!!!!! We have a baby marble gecko in the enclosure. We had no clue they had even laid eggs. We'll have to keep an eye out for more in the coming days and review the camera back a few days to see when it hatched.

Good afternoon all. We all love seeing the happy posts about eggs being laid or hatchlings pushing out, but what about the bad times?

Well we posted about our conda female getting ready to lay eggs. She had already laid a clutch of slugs for her first clutch of the season. We paired her again with the same male who is proven, this is the females second season. They were paired last season as well and produced beautiful offspring, so we figured if it ain't broke don't fix it.

Well we waited for the first egg to drop and it was a slug. We weren't too worried as it's common for slugs to be laid first or last in a clutch. The second came, another slug. Still not a concern as the female did lay a few slugs in her clutches last season.

We left her alone for a couple hours to lay and slug after slug.

We are disappointed we won't have the chance to hatch out super condas this season , but are relieved she was able to get them all out and has taken a meal and is relaxing in her tub.

Anyone that thinks breeding reptiles is all sunshine and unicorns it is not. There are plenty of letdowns and disappointments when doing so.

Animals die, eggs are infertile or go bad during incubation, hatchlings die suddenly or get sick.

Just one example here of no matter what we do it's the animals themselves that decide whether it's a happy post or just a bad experience we learn from and grow from.
