The Sweetest Cat Who Ever Lived
Freckles Mae Pearson
November, 2015 gotcha day - October 2, 2026
Freckles was rescued from the streets of Fort Smith, Arkansas near her mommy Laura’s work at the time. She was happy to jump in the car and find a home. This home had a loving mother and excited four year old girl who Freckles allowed to drag all around and hold her like a baby. She was the most patient, loving animal that we’ve ever had. She brought joy and love for 11 years and enjoyed time with the family until the girl was a teenager. In addition to her human mom and sister, Freckles leaves behind an adopted cat sister. Finley is a spirited, sassy tabby who is 10. Finley is giving lots of love to us both to comfort us during this time. And we, of course are comforting her. Although, I don’t think she understands just yet.
We have many great memories of the girls snuggling together, until Freckles became ill and couldn’t get in bed any longer. Freckles was particular about her people. She didn’t much like visitors or men. But she loved children. She loved seeing her human sissy’s friends and came out to beg for tuna.
One person that had a special bond with Freckles was Audrey’s Mimi. Mimi wasn’t much of a cat person. But she and Freckles bonded and she gave Freckles lots of love and care in her final days. Another special person was her Moms boyfriend, Mark. Mark entered her life later on, but she loved and trusted him from day one. He was so gentle and sweet with her, often laying in the floor. He was in the room with us when we helped Freckles rest and end her suffering. She enjoyed three special years with Mark.
Freckles was a good girl right the end and as week as she was, always made it to the litter box. Before her illness, she enjoyed “making biscuits” on her favorite green blanket. But she never used her claws on any furniture, or any other person or animal. We will remember laughing at her midnight zoomies. Often after everyone was in bed.
She loved the laser toy and bouncy balls. She especially loved salmon and tuna. But she loved her people and her sissy cat the most. She loved hard right up until her last moments. We will always remember you, our sweet Freckles!
