⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING: We’re talking diarrhea, p**p texture, smell, blood, worms & all the gross stuff. 💩
I am NOT a veterinary professional. This is common vet guidance, facts & my own hands-on experience.
🚨💩 DIARRHEA!!! 💩🚨
For dog owners, pet professionals, businesses… & maybe police & fire too, because sometimes I want to call 911 just so THEY can clean it up. 😂
Liquid s**t. Soft serve. Mush. Pudding. Wet blobs.
Anything that is NOT a respectable p**p log.
Can we push it back in? Return to sender? Put a cork in it?
Unfortunately, no. 😂
✅ WATCH
Color. Texture. Frequency. Blood. Mucus.
& THE SMELL.
OH. MY. GOD. THE SMELL. 🤢
Don’t forget the FARTS. 💨
Watch for gurgling, pacing, pain, grass eating, straining, vomiting, weakness or nonstop trips.
Think: food, treats, chews, stress, medicine or something they shouldn’t have eaten.
Giardia, coccidia & worms can cause diarrhea too.
💩 THINGS I DON’T WANT TO SEE
🚩 A lot of blood
🚩 Black/tarry p**p
🚩 A lot of mucus
🚩 Worms or rice-like pieces… unless you fed rice 😂
🚩 Very pale/gray p**p
🚩 Yellow p**p can be bile
🏠 WHAT I PERSONALLY DO
I WATCH first.
I don’t throw home remedies at one bad p**p. I wait until the next meal.
If it’s still loose:
🍗 Plain chicken & rice
🎃 Plain pumpkin
🍠 Plain sweet potato
💧 Fresh water
I also like the Firm Up! Pumpkin Bar.
& honestly… add a little plain pumpkin into their routine forever & always.
Thank me later. 😂
Remove anything new, then reintroduce one at a time.
Probiotics are usually last resort for one random loose p**p.
BUT puppy food changes or loose stool around 10 weeks may be a good time for a dog-safe probiotic.
💊 OVER THE COUNTER?
I personally like white liquid dog diarrhea meds.
Look for kaolin + pectin made for dogs.
Don’t grab human meds.
🏠 FOR YOUR OWN MENTAL HEALTH…
With active diarrhea, I avoid crating when possible.
Use reusable/washable p*e p*e pads.
Throw-away pads are pointless unless your dog has perfect aim. 😂
Ever heard of the walking p**ps?
Yeah… sometimes they happen more with diarrhea, so GIVE THEM SPACE.
Have p**p bags, a hose & cleanup supplies.
🔁 DOES IT KEEP HAPPENING?
Think food intolerance or allergy.
Change things slowly & one at a time.
I recommend UCARI as an at-home screening tool for possible food sensitivities/intolerances.
It does NOT diagnose a true food allergy.
🚑 VET TIME
My rule: diarrhea should NOT last 3 days.
It should be improving, not worsening.
Call sooner for:
🚩 Nonstop watery diarrhea
🚩 A lot of blood or black p**p
🚩 Diarrhea + vomiting
🚩 Weakness or dehydration
🚩 Not eating or drinking
🚩 Swollen/painful belly
🚩 Severe gas/bloating
🚩 Possible toxin/medicine exposure
🚩 They just DON’T seem right
Puppies, tiny dogs, seniors & medical dogs can go downhill faster.
We can’t push it back in.
We can’t return it to sender.
& apparently putting a cork in it is frowned upon. 😂
