When I was 8, I painted this self-portrait for a school assignment: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”

My mom saved it for thirty years.

Now it hangs in my own clinic.

That childhood dream became my life’s work as a Board-Certified Veterinary Ophthalmologist, helping pets with redness, cloudiness, tearing, squinting, discharge, and vision changes.

Visionary Vet Services was built to give pets specialized eye care in a space that feels calm, clear, and personal.

Have a story about how your pet shaped your path? I’d love to hear it.

Some of the most important eye cases are the ones that do not look dramatic right away. That is part of what makes them easy to underestimate, especially when everyday environmental factors are already putting stress on the eyes.

Paying attention early gives you more options, faster answers, and a better chance of protecting long-term comfort and vision.

Pets do have a third eyelid, and most pet owners have no idea it is there until it starts showing up.

That thin inner lid, called the nictitating membrane, helps protect the cornea, spread tears across the surface of the eye, and support the eye’s natural defenses. When it starts showing more than normal, that can be a sign the eye is irritated, painful, or dealing with a deeper issue that deserves attention.

Seeing more of your pet’s third eyelid lately? Schedule an eye exam and get some answers at visionaryvet.com

Not all eyelid bumps are dangerous, but some can rub against the cornea every time your pet blinks. That constant friction can quickly lead to a painful corneal ulcer and infection if left untreated.

Watch for warning signs like squinting, excessive tearing, redness, swelling, or your pet pawing at the eye. These are common symptoms of eye irritation in pets and should never be ignored.

Book a veterinary eye exam as soon as you notice a change. By checking the eyelid margin early, we can prevent damage to the cornea and keep your pet comfortable and safe. Book now at visionaryvet.com

Eye pain in pets is easy to miss until it isn’t.

A lot of owners expect something dramatic. What they usually see instead is squinting, rubbing at the face, avoiding light, or a pet that just seems a little off. Those changes matter.

When an eye is painful, waiting it out can make things harder on your pet and in some cases can make the problem worse. If your pet’s eyes look different, trust what you’re seeing and get them checked.
