UPDATE: Jada and Luna adopted! Thank you for caring and sharing!

We need your help. We currently have 4 very adoptable huskies on the adoption floor and we’re seeing that there are now 4 more in the stray hold area.

I guess as volunteers we wonder why people are buying, breeding them only to have them end up in the County shelter. Are they buying them as cute puppies only to find out that they don’t have the time or knowledge to live with a very busy dog breed so they cast them aside?

As we’ve come to know they’re a very special, unique, beautiful and affectionate breed and we hate the fact that despite our efforts to keep them physically and mentally stimulated they’re still stuck in a kennel but surprisingly they’re all very patient except for the occasional husky chatter.

If you know and love the breed please stop by today and meet Rocky, Jada, Yukon and Luna and please share this post.

We are so grateful for donations that are dropped off at LCDAS. Volunteer Diane sorts through the items and makes sure other organizations get what we can’t use for the animals in our care. One of those groups is St. Peter Lutheran Church on Fort Myers Beach.

They use pillow cases to sew🧵 colorful dresses for girls and shorts for boys. They then send them to places like Africa, Haiti, Cuba and even Appalachia.

We’re betting you didn’t realize your donations were not only benefiting the homeless pets of Lee County but children throughout the world 🌎.

Thank you St. Peter’s for your sewing group and their compassion and kindness for those in need.

UPDATE: Bowie returned(didn’t do well running free with farm animals) and is still available.

Bowie is her real name, yes we’re confused about the name also as we keep referring to her as a he. She arrived with another playful dog friendly female who went to a rescue.

We all love this Bulldog mix(maybe some Boxer in the mix)who is so very good. We haven’t heard her bark, seems to be house trained, walks well on leash and she’s very dog friendly. An ideal home would be one with another dog or for her to have the ability to socialize with other dogs on walks or go to doggie daycare.

This dog volunteer spent some time with 11 year old Shelby this afternoon. Her personality immediately came out and I very quickly came to love her. She’s small but pleasantly plump, curious and definitely not aloof. She jumped up when I patted the spot on the bench next to me. Being with me was more important to her than exploring the room.
Come meet her, take your time to get to know her and take her home!

Shelby and the other kittens pictured are available for adoption at
