“It must be so nice to work from home.”
“Oh, you can do whatever you want whenever.”
“I’d love to have that kind of freedom.”
We hear it a lot.
And the truth is… it’s really not as simple—or as freeing—as most people think.
Especially in the dog world.
It’s dogs with you nearly 24/7.
Training. Boarding. Cleaning messes that never seem to stop.
Answering the 2am potty cries.
Repeating the same routines over and over because consistency matters.
Sure, we technically make our own schedules—but most days, our schedules revolve around training sessions and perfectly timed potty breaks. We aren’t free… we’re dependent on the animals in our care.
It’s so much more than meets the eye.
It’s less free time than you can imagine.
It’s your own dogs falling to the wayside sometimes.
It’s a constant go-go-go—whether it’s physical work, social media, answering client inquiries, or problem-solving behind the scenes.
It never stops. Ever.
So if we seem short.
If we don’t answer the phone.
If we don’t respond within two minutes…
Please know it’s not because we don’t care about you, your dog, your needs, or our business. It’s because sometimes, we need to pause long enough to take a breath.
Sincerely,
All small business owners—especially those in the dog world.
