We told everyone to bring a random object from home and…I have questions. 🐸

Which one is your favorite?

Pop the hood before you turn the key! 🚘🐈‍⬛

With this wild weather lately, stray kittens are looking for any warm, dry place to hide—and car engines are a prime target. In fact, within just 24 hours, both our own Whitny and a client found almost identical little gray kittens tucked away under their hoods!

Thankfully, these two tiny hitchhikers are safe, but it’s a scary reminder of how easily they can go unnoticed.

**Before you start your car in severe weather, please take 5 seconds to:**

* **Thump loudly** on the hood of your car.
* **Stomp your feet** when you get in.
* **Honk the horn** quickly before starting the engine.

A simple tap on the hood can save a life. Let’s keep our neighborhood furry friends safe! 🌧️❤️

Yeah… we’re pretty sure these wouldn’t fly anywhere else. Part of the reason we love our job!

Did you get it right? IVDD actually shows up in different ways depending on the breed:
1️⃣ Type 1 IVDD (common in Dachshunds & other long-bodied breeds): This type happens when a disc suddenly herniates or “slips”, often causing acute pain, weakness, or even paralysis- think of it like a jelly donut exploding. It can come on quickly, sometimes after something as simple as jumping off the couch.

2️⃣ Type 2 IVDD (more common in larger breeds like German Shepherds): This form is more gradual, where the disc slowly bulges over time and puts pressure on the spinal cord- more of a slow leak than a blowout. Signs can be subtle at first, like stiffness, reluctance to move, or decreased activity.

The takeaway? IVDD doesn’t look the same for every dog, and catching it early can make a huge difference. If you have one of these breeds, or another at-risk breed, don't wait for symptoms to show up. We love helping pet parents stay one step ahead. Come see us for tips, screenings, and peace of mind. 🐶
