Our hospital head honcho, le manager, fearless Jay, has just added four (extra) little legs and a whole lot of widdle wrinkles to his home life.

MEET REMI, ZE COMMERCIAL QUEEN! Commercial Boulevard, that is.

Finley has truly chosen the path of true sisterhood (and maybe chaos? Chaos coming soon?).

Remi has been picked up approximately sixty-eleven times and showered with several thousand minutes of love.

This song is a Chris Walker ORIGINAL, by the way, inspired by the legendary French chanteuse Brigitte Bardot. Prepare for it to be stuck in your sweet heads for days to come.

Apparently, the hurricanes are taking it easy this year. Our appointment book, however, did not receive that memo.

NOAA is forecasting a quieter-than-normal Atlantic hurricane season. Lovely news! But as we know in South Florida, it only takes ONE storm to turn things upside down.

And while the Atlantic may be relatively quiet, it is officially Bayview season. Dr. Bowsher and Dr. Pujol have been booking up as early as the day before, so now is a particularly good time to get ahead of your pet’s healthcare needs.

A few things worth doing BEFORE there’s a storm on the radar:

• Check your pet’s medications. Refills may require an up-to-date exam, so please don’t wait until a hurricane is approaching.

• Put together a pet emergency kit. Aim for two weeks of food, water, medications, and other essentials.

• Make sure vaccinations, medical records, ID tags, and microchip information are current.

• Have an evacuation plan that includes your pets. They are, after all, family.

We’ve put together five slides to help you prepare, whether you’re a lifelong Floridian or this is your first hurricane season.

Well, this doesn’t happen every day.

Scientists have officially identified a new species of wild cat - and it weighs about three pounds.

Meet the tilcayo. This tiny, spotted cat lives in the cloud forests of Bolivia and is smaller than the average house cat. Genetic research shows that its lineage separated from other tiger cats around 1.4 million years ago, but scientists are only just now recognizing it as its own species.

It is the first new living cat species described in more than a century.

So, somewhere in South America, a three-pound miniature leopard has been quietly going about its business while the rest of us were busy arguing with our house cats about whether they had already eaten.

Welcome to the cat family, tilcayo. We’ve known about you for five minutes and are already obsessed. Oh, and if you’ve got rabies down there, but your friends know that we still have free rabies vaccines with the purchase of an exam for the end of September!

Take a journey back in time. To a time that was simpler - no AI - no endless scrolling on streaming platforms. Lots of time to spend cuddling your dog and catching the Sunday night movie together. The nostalgia of everything, even the commercials were better. But before you cuddle up with your four-legged friend, make sure you have snacks ready - for BOTH OF you.

May I present, Bayview Best Bites! The single greatest snack for your pup that will absolutely never exist! Some posts are just meant to be fun, and while yes, all of my posts are always fun, this one is just fun. Starring the incomparable Kristen, our fabulous, creative, and sometimes willing to participate in social media escapades - veterinary nurse. Also starring Jay’s furbulous Frenchie, Finley.

“Roselle was asleep under her owner’s desk on the 78th floor in Tower 1 of the World Trade Center when the attack commenced. She was awakened by the plane impacting some fifteen floors above them. Roselle calmly helped Hingson to stairwell B, despite the smoke, confusion and noise surrounding her.

She led her owner and 30 other people down 1,463 steps out of the tower. After descending over half the distance, they passed the firemen who were heading up, who Roselle stopped to greet. The descent took just over an hour. Just after they exited the tower, Tower 2 collapsed, sending debris flying. Hingson later said, “While everyone ran in panic, Roselle remained totally focused on her job, while debris fell around us, and even hit us, Roselle stayed calm.” Once clear, Roselle led her owner to the safety of a subway station, where they helped a woman who had been blinded by falling debris. Once they arrived home, Roselle immediately began playing with her retired guide dog predecessor, Linnie, as if nothing important had happened.”

Never forgotten.
