This guy was the biggest fu×!ing as***le. He tried to kill me everytime I went into his pen. I couldn't even drop a bucket over the fence without him trying to bash my arm to bits. I put ewes in with him and he tried to kill them, too.

It's anyone's guess what fate awaited him in Valhalla.

I have never bought a mature ram from someone else again. I would like to use my kids as the reason for safety, but the truth is that I, me, yo, also really don't want to end up in the hospital!

You have to go in your ram pens. You have to teach them to submit when they are young.

This symbolizes that "never again" lesson.

Most athletic + most intelligent horse = LOTUS gets into trouble when she's bored.

Now she's covered in medicines and vet wrap, on stall rest in a baby-proof stall, and gets doctored 2x a day.

I think she's REALLY just trying to help me justify to my husband the $100s of dollars in vet supplies I have in the cabinet?? "SEE?? You DO totally need all that stuff!! You 👏 just 👏 never 👏 know 👏!!!"

So sweet of her. 🥰

Every decision costs money, especially when it comes to feed. Greater lamb age and weight differences and extreme sudden heat 🥵 changed my mind about creep feeding this year.

I bought a creep gate a few years ago and am glad to finally be using it. Nothing else here is fancy.

The lambs now have a relaxing place to eat as much as they want or get away.

☺️ It improved the flock dynamic. We are more calm, now, and should gain better. So glad I did it. Lambs are in and out all day long.

What's in it?

Because I started this late in the lambing season for some of my lambs, I fed in this corner for a week, then fenced it in during a night feeding. The lambs were conditioned to come to this corner for hay whenever they saw me approach. They challenged the creep gate to get to the food, and figured it out. Sheep are not really that smart...you have to help them out. Bless their little hearts. 💕 The fence is fortified bc some of the more aggressive ewes try to break in. Maybe some breeds don't, but Icelandics certainly have it in them. Super fun.

Niko's FFA Velociraptors 🦖 (we affectionately call them...). Call me crazy, but it's probably my favorite project of the kids'.
They are a phenomenon to witness 🐣 to 🦖.

He will only have 1 extra to sell for someone's Thanksgiving.

📖 He started with 12, sold 4 to 4-H kids, 2 to another FFA friend, and 2 to a friend who raises turkeys. The poults arrived so healthy that more initially surived than we expected, even during a snowstorm, that he had to sell some early!

When recruiting new shepherds:

1. First, lure them in with bottle babies. 🍼😍
