Yesterday was a big day for us over at WCAP Pound/ Wild Rescue because as it would turn out, day 306 would be the last day.
306 days - that's how long JJ lived with us.
JJ was our resident piggy. She is known for being funny, stubborn, and not overly athletic. She'll communicate to you when she's done walking by sitting down and refusing to move or grabbing the leash and pulling you instead. She was sadly comfortable with us, often spending her afternoons sprawled out on her back on her cot in her kennel. We were home for JJ.
But we didn't want to be. So, when my dear friends, the Schurr's mentioned to me that they were interested in meeting JJ, my nose immediately started to burn. They scheduled a meet and greet for yesterday at noon, and shortly after, they decided an at home meet and greet was in order.
Now, I generally don't participate in these because I stay out of our non-profit almost completely. HOWEVER, I couldn't miss this one!
I have never seen two dogs settle in together so well. No stress, instant ease. They ran, played, laid down (for a very short amount of time), played again. At the end of it all, the Schurr family decided JJ was home.
She's got to meet her new little kids last night. Shrieks were shreiked and although I wasn't there, I imagine the house filled with a level of love that only a companion animal can bring. She is already stealing couches, giving the smaller kids happy body wiggles, and is settling in well.
We are so happy JJ is home.
