I’m the “angry daughter.”

The one who begged for love from the person who created her.
The one who stood in rooms where she was belittled and learned to shrink.
The one who swallowed her truth just to keep a place at the table.

The one who has had to untangle years of guilt from standing in places that didn’t honor her soul…
places she knew were wrong,
but she stayed because belonging felt safer than being abandoned.

Because maybe… just maybe…
if she loved harder, forgave more, stayed quieter…
she would finally be chosen.

I didn’t walk away because I was spiteful.
I walked away because I was hurting.

I set boundaries.
I asked.
I begged, honestly and embarrassingly, for a little willingness.
A little accountability.
A little “let’s try.”
A little “let’s heal this together.”

But I was met with a resounding no.

A door slammed shut by the very place I was told love was supposed to come naturally from.

I was called dramatic.
Too sensitive.
Outlandish for believing something broken for generations could be healed.

They didn’t want to change.

So yes… I’m angry.

But anger is only the armor.

Underneath it is a daughter who is grieving.
A daughter who wanted to be loved.
A daughter who wanted to feel chosen.

I am strong… and I am sad.
I am full of love… and I am honest.

And maybe the hardest part of breaking a cycle is realizing:

Sometimes the person who fights the hardest for the family
is the person who has to walk away from it first.
