🐾 What can non-surgical management of CCL disease actually look like?
When a dog is diagnosed with cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) disease, surgery is often one of the first options discussed-- and for many dogs, it can be a good choice. But surgery isn't the only piece of the CCL conversation.
At Red Sage, conservative management means much more than simply resting the leg and hoping it improves. We take a whole-dog, multimodal approach that may incorporate therapeutic exercise, shockwave therapy, acupuncture, regenerative medicine and joint injections, PEMF, manual therapy, nutrition and supplementation, weight management, and individualized pain control.
The goal? To improve comfort, preserve and rebuild strength, support the affected joint, address compensatory changes throughout the body, and help each dog achieve the best function possible. ❤️
Our newest blog takes a deep dive into what CCL disease is, why it develops, and what a comprehensive non-surgical treatment plan can look like.
