Great Oak Pups Raised Bichons for years and now taking care of retired girls and guys, let me know if questions. Cheri passed away in 2012 when she was hit by a car.

I started my hobby by breeding my first Bichon Frise' that I raised from a puppy. She was our big baby. I'm so glad I kept two of her pups from her litter. I fell in love with breeding puppies. I currently have 6 Bichon Frises. Sometimes you just fall in love with that one puppy out of a litter and she's a keeper. This has happened a few times wit

We also have a Soft-Coated Wheaten Terrier who resides at Great Oak Pups. Daisey has only had one litter of pups

I tell everyone that I do not ship my puppies, so I sell locally. My locally has been to a Canadian visiting Wash., DC, and Connecticut, to as far South as Nags Head , S.C., but they come to pick up the pup, that's what matters.

This is Daisy Mae, soft coated Wheaton terrier, my partner in walking, gardening, and working outside. About two years ago she became too deaf and blind to let her range on her own, and needed a lease when she couldn’t hear me calling her back any more. Last year she started getting slower walking and I had to wait on her to come along. Lately she hasn’t been eating as usual and loosing weight. Could tempt her with sliced beef and turkey though like usual. She was sleeping a lot and avoided walking . With all combined GI issued, didn’t look good. Went to vet for X-ray first… she had a large tumor under her liver and spleen with intestines. Options for 14 years old not good. Already had been looking at her quality of life. I had been wondering if there was something major going on. I decided to help her over to the rainbow bridge, spent a while with her, held her head against my chest so she could feel me talk to her, she gave me kisses and I gave them to her. She settled down like , ok I’m tired now mama. The vet came back and I Held her head while she crossed over.
I took her and my bichons to Ohio for three weeks in December. She had a bedroom all to herself to get away from the little Gremlins. After today, I was glad we had that time together. I decided not take pictures when she didn’t feel good, I’d rather remember her happy with her little tail wagging.

Yesterday was a rough day, vet visit, because tummy distended and right eye is becoming white. Bonnie is 14 years old. Lab showed pancreatitis, values off the scale, and some liver enzyme elevated, plus murmur worsened to a stage 4. Went home with meds..eye drops, liver support, antibiotic, heart support, already on BP med. Home, gave meds. She was sticking with me, so put her with me to nap. She appeared to have problem breathing when lying down. I propped her up on me with head up she was better.
Back to vet…X-ray..showed that she had two large tumors in her chest, increasing pressure in lungs and heart, platelets were also high. Question of pancreas involvment with cancer. Med for pain and inflammation. Treat symptomatically. She is really enjoying food and takes meds super easy. No more oxygen hunger she was showing yesterday. Sleeping like usual. At some time a decision will be made for her, just not now.

Anyone with personal or company helicopters are desperately needed to get to otherwise inaccessible areas in Appalachia, roads washed out. Gas is sold out. Generators need gas. They need Water and life sustainable medications, insulin, antibiotics, and tents, and short term housing. Linemen can’t get where they need to be by truck. Supplies being trucked in but need air support.

Bonnie turned 12 years old in December. Vet appointment today. Felt something wasn’t quite right , she has put on almost a pound since last year. Vet found she has a 3/6 heart mummer and we decided to check X-ray. Heart size increased from 2 to 4 ribs. I guess weight increase could be just not a active as usual. Lungs are clear. Started on an ACE inhibitor to try to help heart workload.

I never fully knew the turmoil that folks go through deciding the right time to help their furbabies to the rainbow bridge😢. Curly Bear took that decision from me, thank his little heart. ❤️😢
But T***k had been getting worse. The growth was steady growing and becoming vascular, I couldn’t clean her mouth without causing it to bleed. 😢. When I woke with blood up and down the bed Saturday morning, I knew I had to make a decision. 😭😭 My delemnia was she was still eating her puréed food fairly well and she liked going outside and sitting with the sun on her face. I didn’t like that she had started having what I called fear episodes where she’d just started shaking like she was afraid, I’d pick her up and take her outside or talk to her and it would pass. Mia was her shadow, she would come in the house before T***k did. Same for going outside. T***k has been deaf and mostly blind for quite a while. She would find her familiar places. I’d put her food in front of her and coax her to eat. Weigh the quality🧐🧐😫
I decided to make her appointment for Monday. I struggled with whether to put a pic tonight and I decided that it was a part of her life struggle. I snuggled her in my lap while Dr. Stevens helped her along. Tonight was the first time I could bring myself to post this to my fb friends.
T***k was my little Princess hence her long ear hair.🥰🥰
