What’s stopping you from updating your headshot?

The other day, I met with a woman who needed a professional headshot. When I asked what she was currently using, she laughed and admitted she had cropped herself out of a vacation photo.

The funny thing is, she’s not alone.

I can’t tell you how many people I’ve met who are using a photo that’s 10 years old, a quick snapshot from a family gathering, or an image that no longer reflects who they are today.

The problem is that for many people, their headshot is the first introduction to a potential client, employer, referral partner, or customer.

And as the saying goes, you only get one chance to make a first impression.

I completely understand why people put it off. Being photographed can feel uncomfortable, and most people assume they’re not going to like the results.

That’s exactly why I work so hard to make your headshot experience easy, comfortable, and even fun.

Because when we finally sit down together to review the images, the reaction is often the same:

“Wow, I look so good.”

And that’s exactly how it should be.

Senior year goes by quickly.

If you’d love senior portraits that celebrate who your child is right now while keeping the process easy and enjoyable, I’m here to help make that happen.

Let’s create something you’ll both treasure for years to come.

One day you’re packing lunches, helping with homework, and driving to practices.

Then suddenly you’re visiting colleges, talking about careers, and helping them prepare for what’s next.

Senior year has a way of sneaking up on us.

And once it starts, it seems like there’s always another event, deadline, form, visit, game, celebration, or obligation competing for your attention.

That’s why I work hard to make the senior portrait experience easy and enjoyable for both parents and seniors.

Together, we’ll create a session that reflects your child’s personality, interests, style, and the things that make them uniquely themselves.

I’ll guide you through the planning, keep things simple, and make sure we have plenty of fun along the way.

Because senior portraits shouldn’t feel like another item on an already busy checklist.

They should feel like a celebration.

One of the most common questions I hear from parents before a senior portrait session goes something like this:

“Can you convince her not to wear those shoes?”

Or:

“He wears that hat all the time.”

Or:

“Do we really have to include that necklace, bracelet, jacket, or hairstyle?”

The truth is, those details are exactly what I want to photograph.

Senior year is such an interesting time in a young person’s life.

They’re not quite children anymore, but they’re not fully adults either.

They’re figuring out who they are.

They’re experimenting with their own style, interests, opinions, and ways of expressing themselves.

And while some of those choices may make parents smile, cringe, or shake their heads a little, they’re also part of what makes this time so memorable.

Years from now, those shoes, that jacket, that hairstyle, or that favorite piece of jewelry may be long gone.

The photographs will remain.

And often, the things we thought we’d want to leave out become the very things that bring back the strongest memories.

That’s why I encourage senior portraits to celebrate who these beautiful, unique individuals are right now, not who we think they should be.

If family portraits have been sitting on your “someday” list, consider this your sign to move them a little closer to the top.

We’ll plan everything together, and I’ll guide you every step of the way.

The result is more than a beautiful photograph. It’s a reminder of the people and relationships that matter most.

If you’ve been thinking about family portraits, I’m here for you to make that happen.

Over the years, I’ve noticed something.

Very few families put off portraits because they don’t want them.

Most put them off because they assume there will be more time.

More time to coordinate schedules.

More time to lose weight.

More time until work slows down.

More time until life feels a little less hectic.

Here are two true stories I have encountered in my business.

A mother I knew talked often about wanting a portrait with her two grown sons. She was willing to pay for it. She loved the idea. She just couldn’t quite get everyone together.

The next year she mentioned it again.

Before it ever happened, she passed away unexpectedly.

Another family wanted to include an elderly mother in their portrait session. The plan was made, but life got busy and the session was postponed.

Before the portraits could happen, she suffered a stroke.

Neither family thought they were out of time.

Most of us don’t.

That’s why I believe family portraits are about more than photographs.

They’re about honoring the people we love while we still have the opportunity to stand beside them.

There may never be a perfect time.

But sometimes the moments we think we can postpone are the ones that matter most.

Does the thought of family portraits feel a little stressful?

You’re not alone.

It typically goes something like this:

Someone is worried about their hair.

Someone is running late.

Parents are hoping the children will cooperate.

Kids are wondering how long this is going to take.

It’s all okay and expected. Before the session, we’ve already spent time planning together so everyone knows what to expect.

Then they arrive, and something shifts.

The pressure starts to melt away. People begin to laugh. They tease each other. They tell stories. They settle into being themselves.

By the end of the session, I often hear that the experience was much easier than expected and actually fun.

The photographs are beautiful, but even more important, they carry memories of time spent enjoying each other.

Years from now, these portraits will remind you what everyone looked like.

More importantly, they’ll remind you how it felt to be together.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures who are often the steady presence behind the scenes.

The ones who remember the details, hold the family together, show up for every milestone, and love in a thousand quiet ways.

I hope today brings you a little beauty, a little rest, and a reminder that the love you give matters more than you know.

They’re graduating.

And this window is smaller than it feels.

Caps and gowns come and go quickly. Schedules fill up. Summer starts. And before you know it, everyone has moved on to what’s next.

If you’ve been thinking about doing something more than a few quick phone photos, this is the time to do it.

I’m currently scheduling graduation portrait sessions over the next few weeks.

These sessions are a lot of fun and become an extension of the celebration for your family. They’re even more meaningful when parents and family step into the frame alongside their graduate.

Because this moment isn’t only about the milestone. It reflects years of love, support, and everything it took to get them here.

If you’d like more information or want to reserve a spot, send me a message and I’ll walk you through it.
