Dog show adventures don’t always happen in the ring. 😅

A nail in the tire as we were leaving the Tampa fairgrounds means we’re spending some quality time at Tires Plus. Thankfully, Mochi and Maverick are taking the whole thing in stride - currently supervising the repair crew from the middle of the waiting room floor like they own the place.

Arthur may be sidelined while his leg heals, but his mom is putting that busy poodle brain to work. Recovery looks a lot more fun when it comes with snacks!

Update- his name is now Maverick!
We’ve made our pick puppy from Poppy x Tanuki’s litter, and it’s Orange Collar Boy - Rebel! While his call name is still to be determined, he’s already reminding us so much of a baby Poppy. He has that same people-focused, velcro-dog nature that we love, paired with the sweet devotion and attentiveness that made the boys like Zero so special.

While we’ve selected him as our pick puppy, he’s not necessarily staying here long-term. We are open to the right co-own home with someone who is serious about participating in UKC conformation and interested in being an active part of his show career and future development. He’s already been VGL tested and we’re waiting on his results to run through BetterBred.

For now, he’ll be joining us on the road as we begin preparing him for the show ring. That means plenty of time on the grooming table, exposure to busy show environments, travel, new experiences, and learning how to confidently navigate life around other dogs and people.

For now, we’re excited to watch this promising young boy grow and see what the future has in store for him.

One of the hardest parts of being a breeder is knowing that no matter how carefully you plan, accidents can still happen. A week ago, Arthur (formerly known as Green collar boy/ Karma) sustained an orthopedic leg injury when was accidentally stepped on by one of the girls. Thankfully, his initial evaluation and radiology review were encouraging, and his prognosis appears good. He’s continuing to improve, and we’ll be following up with additional imaging next week to ensure nothing subtle is missed as he heals.

Moments like this are a reminder that responsible breeding doesn’t end when a puppy is born. It means being transparent when things don’t go according to plan, seeking appropriate veterinary care, keeping families informed, and making decisions based on what’s best for the puppy. Arthur is receiving lots of extra love and attention while he recovers, and we’re hopeful he can soon be allowed back to his bouncy, carefree self very soon, with the family that has been waiting for him. 💕 Enjoy today’s video of him doing his best Tigger impression on his potty break

Comparing puppy purchases from a few years ago to today has been eye-opening. Prices on many of the things we buy for our dogs and puppies have doubled—and some have nearly tripled. The puppies are worth every penny, but the sticker shock when restocking supplies is definitely real!

Today was a big day for the puppies. Since Krystal (my friend and Poppy‘s dad‘s human) hadn’t been able to make it down to meet this litter yet, the puppies loaded up for their first big car ride and field trip to visit her. They handled the adventure like pros, then stopped by Dr. Randy’s office for vaccinations, health certificates, and wellness checks. Everyone got a clean bill of health, and I think seeing the puppies in person made all of our days a little brighter. These kids are such a friendly lot. Hard to believe they will be heading home with their families this weekend.

Neo stopped by for a spa day and fresh groom today, and it was great to have him back for a visit. Since Soki's puppies arrived earlier this year, Neo has been staying with Deb and Obi, and what started as a temporary arrangement seems to have turned into his perfect home. Now that Soki is back home and was spayed this week, Deb is happy to have him stay. Next week he'll be completing his OFA health testing with hips, elbows, cardiac, and CAER. We're excited to continue watching this handsome boy's journey unfold. 🐾
