Morning hunts are cool the next few days, but the days heat 75-80 is not your friend for a deer mount. Keep them cold boys. And try to get them here no more than 24 hours. Some processors can't or wont put them in the actual freezer. And they can't lay in a cooler for 3 or 4 days. At that point your gonna need a cape. Spare capes are a bit pricey . Move quickly. As quick as possible. Trophy care by the hunter is very important and is your responsibility. Everybody expects a mount to be perfect at pickup. Well, that starts with you and how its handled in the heat of the day and in and out of the processors and to the Taxidermist and At 75, time is not on your side. A cooler is not a Freezer and Bacteria loves 40 degrees "cool" ... if the cape has a fowl smell, your cape is done and hair will slip.
