In addition to pet rescue, foster and adoption, we offer reduced cost spay and neuter for dogs and cats. Our Mission:
The mission of Floyd County Humane Society is to advocate and provide for the welfare, protection, and humane treatment of companion animals in Floyd County, VA. Its objectives and activities in support of this mission are:
-To reduce the population of stray and unwanted pets by pr

omoting and providing access to low-cost spay-and-neuter services;
-To maintain a stabilized population of feral cats in the county by augmenting and participating in community-based Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs;
-To assume comprehensive custodial care for as many homeless companion animals as possible – including strays, owner-surrendered, and those taken in by Animal Control – through temporary sheltering and fostering by our volunteer base;
-To facilitate the permanent placement of animals in our care through the operation of a vigorous adoption program, including on-line promotion, community adoption events, and thorough screening of applicants;
-To support the community in the humane and healthy treatment of their pets through such programs as low-cost vaccination clinics, distribution of free pet food through the area food pantry, free identification collars, and an emergency medical fund;
-To heighten the community's awareness of existing challenges with the pet population and together implement solutions via robust online and print informational outreach.

Joey and Julie. Where do we begin?

These cherished dogs are facing a huge transition and need your help. They have been loved and cared for by their mom their whole lives. Unfortunately she has to go into assisted living and cannot take them with her. It truly broke her heart. BUT we promised her we will find the BEST home for these two and we need your help.

These two are 5 year old bonded siblings and have lived a sheltered life. They get scared easily and are a little stubborn (typical husky behavior) but are sooo sweet. A foster may be the best for them at first so they can learn life outside of the only home they’ve ever known. They love to play with toys (their mom would get them a new one every time she went to the store) and they love snuggling. We don’t know how they will act around other dogs or cats. Please share and reach out to us to meet these two sweet babies!

Our adoptable couple are getting married! In addition to looking for a home to settle down in after the marriage they are also looking for a family to call their own. They are great with other farm animals, love to give kisses and honestly will be up to whatever comes their way. As long as they have each other moving in will be a breeze for them. Maybe their new family can even take them on a honeymoon 🐾 🥾⛰️

Sweet foster cat Gracie is happy for her kittens getting adopted Sunday, but it's bitter sweet. Eating dinner alone now that her kittens are gone, she is ready to have meals with a new family. Will that be yours? Gracie is a young tabby girl that came to us as a pregnant stray. Now she is spayed, up to date on vaccines and ready for her forever home.

Check out Jax playing! 🏃🏽🐾

Jax is a 8 month old brindle terrier mix looking for his forever home.

His current family took him in from someone who could no longer care for him.

Jax is a playful, healthy, happy boy! He is good with other dogs, cats, and kids. He will benefit from ongoing guidance with his puppy energy!

He is housebroken and practicing crate training - where he is improving greatly! He plays in the yard with his sibling, staying where he should and listens when called back.

He is up to date on vaccines and neuter is being scheduled.
