Updates and thank yous:
THANK YOU is not enough to express our gratitude to Chris Hegwood. He jumped right in and immediately offered his services. He dropped us a rolloff dumpster yesterday to start the cleanup process. This is going to be a long tedious cleanup.
JD has been a great friend these past two days. He has rolled up his sleeves and done the work that has been helpful, definitely not fun, but so needed.
Thank you Will with Pro-Select Roofing and Contracting. He remembered me from a random job to acknowledge the loss. You showed up at a phone call to give us some answers and ideas.
I see everyone offering a helping hand and willing to volunteer (especially when it comes to the animals). Brooklee, Celeste, and Jessica are staying on and taking great care of the animals.
I see a LOT of posts questioning Hollywood. Thank goodness he was in the room you all see him in. It kept him safe. When the fire department finally allowed me to come in to begin checking on all the animals, Hollywood was in the BEST place. When I saw him he was asleep and acted as if NOTHING had even happened hours earlier. The reptiles were in the next best area. Then the birds. ALL of these rooms are completely enclosed and have doors that close. Somehow, the small mammals survived. They will continue to be monitored for some time, but they are SURVIVORS.
B,C, and J immediately came in and got to cleaning up their (fish and mammals) areas replacing the bedding and moving them where they could have fresh air. They worked hard getting all the debris cleaned from the fish tanks.
Pictured is that beautiful dump trailer being put to use. We removed most of the old saltwater tanks yesterday.
Also pictured is what you would see walking from the small mammal food and accessories area, the fresh water fish room with the old doorway sealed off, and the inside of the small mammal room.
Much appreciation to those that have volunteered. The animals are good and don't need the volunteers. It's the boots on the ground, the nasty parts that need attention, but we aren't there yet
