Wild Agape

Wild Agape Training wild horses and burros with AZ inmates in the vaquero/buckaroo tradition. These methods are introduced to clients who work with program horses.

Individuals seeking an effective and unique way to process through emotional difficulties or a crisis are introduced to a method of horsemanship that develops the confidence, empathy, and direction necessary for healing and growth. Additionally, those seeking to develop skills that will enhance their personal and professional quality of life can discover a fun, exciting and fulfilling experience l

eading horses into places of peace. The horsemanship at the heart of the program is heavily influenced by the wisdom of Tom Dorrance, Ray Hunt, and Buck Brannaman who were all influenced by the Spanish and Mexican Vaqueros and Great Basin Buckaroos. The horsemanship passed down by these legends works with the horse to develop a partnership from a position of leadership. Troubled horses are given room to move and time to think so they can search for the good deal being offered. Clients participate in both groundwork and riding as part of the program. Fees: Fees are negotiable and set on a case by case basis as we cannot currently bill insurance. What we are not: Indy’s ministry background affords him the experience to be able to counsel, listen, and empathize. However, it is not our place nor goal to evangelize, preach, or witness to a particular view of faith. We meet people where they are and allow the experience with the horses to inform the direction of the therapy. Special Option: Sometimes, individuals cannot come to our ranch. In certain circumstances, Indy will travel to clients with one of his horses provided the client has access to an appropriate place to work. In these cases, millage is added to the fee.

More from Derek Begay’s visit today.

Today, Derek Begay, NFR finalist and AZ cowboy, bought three of our horses and spent some time with our guys. That’s my horse, Rain, that he’s riding. He’s now bought 4 of our horses and is impressed with what we’re producing. He couldn’t be more complementary about the program. Looking forward to working with him again.

So proud of this young man! For a guy from the city streets who had never been around a horse, he did a fantastic job starting this touchy c**t. Took him from untouched to under saddle. Inspiring!

Five young wild horses going through the paces to become soft gentle horses with a positive future ahead. The guys do a remarkable job especially when over 95% of them have never worked with horses before. I’m honored to be a part of their journey.
