It was a long drive home, but he is settling in.

We lost our Saki. He was deeply loved, even before we met him. Run free, Saki. You just needed a place to rest your head and to feel safe and loved before you left us.

He wagged his tail up until the very end. He knew he was loved! 💔

We got the diagnosis that we did not want to hear. 💔 Saki had a large tumor growing in his neck. Along with the mass that was seen on his X-rays, the different treatment options that were suggested could possibly extend his life 3 to 6 months. We chose the least invasive option. As sad as this all is, he was loved and he was safe. That is more than he had a couple of months ago.

Saki had a grade 6 heart murmur, but not an enlarged heart. He had severe dental disease. Other than his white blood count, his bloodwork was great.He received a dental surgery to improve his health. His lungs were clear. His X-rays showed quite a bit of damage to his spine over the years. There were some concerning masses that showed up through his chest and near his lungs. If he were a younger dog, we might have addressed those a little more head on. We were keeping him as comfortable as possible. He seemed happy. We were taking it one day at a time.

We were made aware of an emergency case a couple of months ago where an elderly pup was tied outside to a dog house and discarded without food or water in the blazing Tennessee heat. The only reason he survived was because a neighbor stepped up and saved him with the help of Animal Control.

Daisy Mae has an approved adopter and a meet this week. 🌸 Exciting time!

Daisy Mae was found under a trailer home after tenants had moved out. There was no way to know if she was their pet, as so many roam free in the country. She was in bad shape, skinny, wormy, anemic, and tired. This poor pre-senior girl deserves so much better. She will get that now. Dog/cat friendly. Likes both men and women. Potty trained. Crates nicely when needed. Daisy Mae is spayed, heartworm negative, and up to date on immunizations/flea/tick/heartworm prevention.

We cannot keep Saki’s energy up. We are trying small, frequent meals, nutrient boosts, and plenty of water. His tail still wags, but he is just wasting away. 💔 These were the last couple of pictures taken before things started to go downhill.

As sad as this all is, he is loved and he is safe. That is more than he had a couple of months ago.

At this moment, we are keeping him as comfortable as possible. He seems happy. We will take it one day at a time and address the issues that could potentially give him the best quality of life. We have a plan with our vet.

😍 Marlin continues his medicated baths. His skin is clearing up nicely. He is finished with his antibiotics. Gotta pay the cheese tax! 🧀

Marlin will be available soon for adoption. This sweet boy is friendly with men, women, and children. He is good with dogs and cats too. Sadly Martin was adopted in the past, but for whatever reason, he was neglected and abandoned. His horrible skin condition didn’t happen overnight. This pre-senior has been suffering for a long time. His teeth are worn down from chewing on his own body to try to get some relief. Poor thing. It ends now! All he will need is a little TLC and Marlin will enjoy his golden years with a new family of his own.

Sweet Bandito continues healing from his neuter. He had his stitch taken out from his skin tag removal.

Poor Bandito was surrendered to a southern kill shelter because he was too much of a responsibility. Owner surrenders are the first dogs euthanized. Luckily we were contacted and we had a volunteer pull him out. He was sent to the vet for a checkup and was in a lovely foster home near Georgia. He is now neutered and available for adoption. Dog/cat/child friendly and up to date on immunizations and heartworm prevention.
