Guess what? 💕This itty bitty beauty has a Meet & Greet this weekend. Hooray!💗

💕Chiquita has really blossomed upstairs and is feeling much more confident. 💗 She is such a loving and fun little girl

Little Chiquita is a rescue from one of the many hoarding situations in our area. She finished caring for a litter of puppies, received some TLC from us, and is now spayed and up to date on her medical needs. She deserves a new, pampered life. Chiquita is a little timid and unsure about all these life changes. She will require a patient adopter that is experienced with Chihuahuas or other similar, little pups. Fenced yard is preferred. She might not do well with young children. She prefers the company of women, but has done fine with patient men. Crate trained & working on potty training. Cat/dog friendly.

💕LADYBUG (formerly known as Lady) 💗 We were made aware of a sweet, needy senior in southern Alabama. This poor girl was overdue for a spay and dental procedure. Her disabled owner agreed to surrender her, as she could no longer care for her. Volunteers found a foster and she is safe.

We are at capacity up here in Florence. She will stay at her foster home through her procedures.

🤩 Coming SOON ✨ These are dogs that we have agreed to bring into our care. Sometimes they show up. Sometimes they don’t. Most will still need a spay/neuter, updated medical care, decompression and TLC. Stay tuned.

😍 Chase arrived at Woodward Avenue Animal Clinic for his neuter surgery. Any donations for his care can be called in directly to the clinic. His dental surgery is scheduled for November. We will consider applicants for foster/adoption at this time. I look forward to watching his continued story unfold. 🥰

Chase was safely taken to a foster home, received updated medical care, and arrived here to our rescue for some TLC. Sadly, this poor boy has been neglected for most of his life, living in a cage, and not receiving needed care. The couple finally surrendered Chase when they found out they were having a baby. All his medical needs have been brought up to date. He still needs to have many of his teeth removed. We had hoped to have a happier story about this sweet boy. His new chapter starts now.

Pepina (Penny Lane) is now home from her painful heartworm procedure. She will rest for 30+ days while the parasites die off. Right now she needs love and gentle care. She is definitely getting that from her awesome foster family. Keep her in your thoughts.

Pepina had quite a major surgery and now is being treated for heartworm disease. Not only did she have her spay, but had 2 inguinal hernias, hydrometra, and a mammary tumor. The mammary gland was removed, hernias repaired, and she is fully recovered from that. She is in the loving care of her foster family. She will be adopted when her heartworm disease is under control. 🌸

We took in Pepina and Rosa Lyn from a local shelter. We don’t know all the horrific details of their former lives, but we do know that one was “accidentally” THROWN INTO A FIRE. Don’t even get me started on that one. It’s taken time to process this as I get to know them better. How anyone could ever hurt these sweet, innocent, little girls, I’ll never understand. Little Pepina seems to hold more of a grudge to all humankind. I understand. We know this sad story will have a happy ending. Rosa Lyn (Eleanor Rigby) was adopted.

It was a great day! ❤️ Snickerdoodle woke up early, had a snack, took his meds, and had time to lounge in the sun before his laser therapy. He enjoys his time with his special friend, Mary Minnix. She has been driving Snickerdoodle to his treatments. We are so grateful to Mary for her loving care. 🥰

Our Sanctuary Resident Pups are NOT available for adoption. They are here permanently for various reasons, some for health or behavioral issues. We do have many other sweet pups that need a new home.

Snickerdoodle had a couple of better days. He continues to want to be out on the play yard. 😍 He enjoys the outdoors and will look for me to get some snuggles. As long as he is finding joy in his life on a daily basis, we think that is a good quality of life for him. 🥰

Snickerdoodle is a sweet senior that came in to rescue when his caregiver passed away. He has been bonding with other seniors living here. He used to go up and down stairs fairly well, but he can no longer manage that. He does enjoy exploring the play yard in daycare. We are still caring for his eye inflammation. He will need eye drops for the remainder of his years. He is blind in one eye, but never has an issue getting around. He will need another dental cleaning soon.
