Genesee County Animal Care Volunteers Mission: To network and help the animals of Genesee County (MI) Animal Control find homes and rescues, along with helping the community.

The reason for this page is simple, to help save as many as we can. The administrators are very active VOLUNTEERS at the Genesee County Animal Control that are in the kennels each week socializing our homeless dogs and cats. We spend countless hours trying to network and save these animals by advertising, and trying to find rescues and adopters. We many times have animals that are not at the shelt

er that are in need. Flint and the surrounding area is in desperate need of help for our animals. There are few rescues in our county to help move our homeless dogs and cats along. Please help us share the animals we post on this page so that they can all find the homes that they deserve.

Our shelter is full to the brim with amazing dogs who are waiting for their second chance at a wonderful life. Rescue dogs are the best! They form a special bond with their people and are eternally grateful to be a part of a true forever family.

♥️ Reduced adoption fees: $20 plus $10 license fee

All of our dogs are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested before leaving for adoption. Continual vet care (including heartworm preventative) for the full duration of the pet’s life is a requirement of all adopters.

🌺🐾 Meet Little Kahuna! 🐾🌺

This handsome gentleman is Little Kahuna, a sweet senior boy who is ready to trade shelter life for a comfy couch and a family to call his own.

Little Kahuna is estimated to be about 6 to 8 years old and weighs 78 pounds. He participates in meet and greets with other dogs and doesn’t seem to show much interest in them. He’s an easygoing guy who would do well with children around 6 years and older.

What does Little Kahuna love most? People! ❤️ He absolutely lights up for pets, attention, and especially those coveted b***y scratches. He’s the kind of dog who is happiest just hanging out with his humans, soaking up affection, and enjoying the simple things in life.

This sweet old soul has a calm, gentle nature that makes him a joy to spend time with. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who still has plenty of love to give, Little Kahuna may be your perfect match.

💕 Meet Nala! 💕

If you’re looking for a sweet, happy companion with a heart full of love, then you need to meet Nala!

Nala is about 2 to 3 years old and weighs just 37 pounds. She came into the shelter a little on the thin side, so she’d love a family who can spoil her with good meals, treats, and plenty of love while she puts a few “groceries” back on her frame. 🐾

This precious girl is easy to walk and has the cutest little show-horse trot that will make you smile every time you see it. Nala is a happy-go-lucky pup who seems to enjoy everyone she meets and has a wonderfully sweet personality.

She’s listed as showing no interest in other dogs, but as always, a meet and greet is recommended. Nala would do best with children around 5 years and older.

Nala doesn’t need anything fancy. She just needs a family to call her own, a comfy place to sleep, and people who will love her as much as she’ll love them. ❤️

Just like her name, Marshmallow is a soft, sweet soul who is impossible not to love. This beautiful girl looks like she might be a mix of Australian Shepherd and Husky, but whatever her breed mix may be, she’s 100% adorable!

Marshmallow is about 6 years old and 43 pounds. She’s dog friendly, easy to walk, and would do best with a little older children. She came to the shelter with another dog and has a calm, easygoing personality that makes her a joy to spend time with.

She’s happy-go-lucky, content just hanging out by your side, and seems to love everyone she meets. Whether you’re taking a stroll, relaxing in the yard, or simply enjoying a quiet evening at home, Marshmallow is the kind of companion who is just happy to be with her people.

Graham is a handsome 1-year-old Lab mix weighing about 56 pounds, and he’s every bit the big puppy you’d expect him to be! ❤️

This sweet boy came into the shelter with his friend Marshmallow and is now hoping to find a family of his very own. Graham is dog friendly, curious about the world around him, and has the cutest curly tail that adds even more charm to his already adorable personality.

He can be a little shy when meeting new people and may take a few minutes to warm up, but once he does, you’ll discover a very sweet, gentle boy who just wants to be loved. Graham is still young and learning, so we’d recommend a home with children around 8 years and older.

For a big puppy, he’s not bad to walk at all, and he enjoys exploring and checking everything out. His curious nature and sweet disposition make him a wonderful companion for someone willing to give him a little patience and confidence as he settles into a new home.

Buddy is just 6 months old and weighs about 36 pounds. He’s dog friendly, kid friendly, and everything you’d expect from a happy, growing puppy. ❤️

This sweet boy is always excited to see people and approaches life with a wagging tail and a joyful spirit. Buddy is playful, curious, and ready to learn all about the world with a family of his very own. Whether it’s playtime in the yard, family adventures, or snuggling up after a busy day, Buddy is ready for it all.

Like any puppy, he’ll need guidance, training, and patience as he grows, but he’ll repay you with a lifetime of love, loyalty, and plenty of smiles.

Some dogs just can’t catch a break… 🥺

We know many of you have been following Chiclette’s story and rooting for her, and we need your help once more to find her TRUE forever family. Third time’s the charm, right? 🍀

This beautiful little pittie mix has been returned to us again as the requirements for what Chiclette needed to be successful in the home were unfortunately not met. Thankfully, one of our dedicated fosters Sue and her husband opened their home to help this pup in need. Chiclette could not handle shelter life, and it had gotten to the point where she was accidentally harming herself in her kennel due to stress.

Fostering truly saves lives, and we are so grateful for our team.

Our mission now is to find the home that Chiclette has always meant to have - a home that is peaceful, calm, and cozy. We’re looking for a kind, patient, loving family that will stick by this girl’s side through thick and thin. She will also need to find a family with no other dogs, but good news, she seems to enjoy the company of feline friends! 🐈

This girl has experienced a ton of confusion, mistreatment, and instability in her life so far. She’s very shy and timid at first with new people, and she’s shown signs that she has most likely been abused in the past. Her teeth have been ground down - whether by accident or force, we will never know.

This cute little bug is about 3-4 years old and 46 pounds. Older children who respect her space and boundaries is also very important.

Once Chiclette has had time to warm up around new people, she’s super sweet and affectionate. The bond that she builds with her people is so special, and she’s going to bring someone so much love and companionship. She’s playful, sassy, and silly - the total package.
