Snapdragon experiment! This growing season, I'm trying something different with my snapdragons. I have two sixteen foot beds of these beauties. However, I've found that no matter *when* I plant my successions of snaps (even if I start them indoors weeks apart), they always seem to bloom at the same time. I don't need thirty feet of snapdragons blooming at once, so I'm trying to stagger my harvest window in an entirely different way.

Here's how.

One bed is planted super tight. I planted two seeds per cell and left them double when planting out. These babies (first picture) are planted only three to four inches apart. I won't pinch, so in theory they will grow *en masse* and bloom together. This is similar to how some flower farmers grow their lisianthus (and I'm trying this method with lissies too, on a different part of the farm). These snaps will be "one and done" and I'm hoping for marvelous results.

The other bed (second picture) is planted out in the way I normally plant snapdragons. These guys are about six (to seven) inches apart and I will pinch them, encouraging branching. So there will be more flowers per plant, but hopefully they'll bloom weeks after the first bed of snaps are done with their blooming.

I know it's not so lovely to look at now, but happy plants tucked into a healthy bed does my heart good. It will be a delight to watch them grow! And interesting, to boot, as I hope to learn much along the way.

There's always new things to try and new things to learn in the gardens.

A new spin on our much-loved jam jar arrangements: introducing "fairie posies."

Sweet, petite, and entirely enchanting.

I also sometimes call them "minis."

They're different every week, following the natural ebbs and flows of our Michigan seasons.

You know where to find them!

Wreath of the week: our Shimmery Lunaria Wreath.

It seems everybody has a memory linked with this special plant. Did you peel apart the layers as a little kid, revealing the shimmery middle? Were you taught to call it "money plant" or "silver dollar plant"? Have you always noticed it in the fall, lighting up the margins, the places between field and forest?

You'll also see lunaria featured this week in some of our dried floral bouquets.

Come see me Saturday and check out the shimmery magic for yourself.

Here's an up-close look at our hand-made triple-wrap leather bracelets.

Our triple-wrap leather bracelets include semi-precious stones (labradorite and azurite pictured) and high-quality metal and glass beads. With over four-hundred beads, each creation is different than the next; no two are ever alike.

I intricately weave mixed-media beads between genuine leather; each bracelet takes hours to create. And each unique piece fastens with a mother of pearl clasp. So earthy, so dreamy.

Three sizes in five colorways:
turquoise, raspberry bronze, greyscale, denim and earthy green.

Come find me, our bracelets, and fresh flowers of course, at the on Saturdays under the pavilion.

Many thanks to each and every one of you who came out to our very first set up at the this past Saturday! You made our opening day absolutely phenomenal!!I hope all the mamas who received our flowers for their special day loved them.

I loved seeing you! Old friends and new friends alike! I also saw some driving rain, hail, and lightening which wasn't so pleasant but definitely made the day that much more memorable.

We'll be there again this Saturday with more tulips (new colors and cultivars!), more dried flowers, an all-new wreath of the week and more.

I've added more photos from our big day in our stories.

Introducing our *Wreath of the Week* !!

Each Saturday at market, throughout the spring, summer, and fall, I'll offer one handmade wreath. One week only, then it's gone. The following week, there will be a completely new (and completely different) wreath in its place.

The wreath I've created to celebrate our grand opening is a whimsical wild meadow design in blush pink tones. And it could be yours!

This Saturday, we're setting up at the Flint Farmers' Market for the very first time, tucked under the pavilion with our garden-fresh flowers, handmade jewelry, and brand-new flower farm tees. And our wreath of the week!

I will see you in three days!
(And you will see this wreath.)
Three days!!
