At least, to be happy at home should be the ultimate goal of our ambitions.

What an utter and astonishing blessing to be working with flowers, bringing blooms to my community, and contributing to our family's well-being, all from this little plot of land I call home.

To be happy at home.
Also, to be happily working from home.
Thank God for this path, for His plan for my days.

And thank you, flower friend, for another phenomenal flower season, a year of firsts in my eighth season growing!! I couldn't possibly do any of it without you, your encouragement and support. Thank you.

Now starts the work of buttoning up the gardens, putting everything to bed before the snows come, and planning and preparing for next year.

I'll happily do that too.

I cannot believe tomorrow is our final market of the season! I've been working on dried floral pumpkins and some truly lovely dried vase arrangements all week long; you will definitely want to stop by and see them for yourself!

And I've had a helper or two in the flower studio. Both are four-legged, meow, and crave attention.

Thank you again for such a wonderful first season at the Flint Farmers' Market !! It's been such a joy to be there and to share our flowers (both fresh & dried) with you.

I'm already excited about what next year will bring!

Our dried floral pumpkins are a little autumn magic: real pumpkins dressed in dried blooms that never wilt, never need watering, and look lovely on your tabletop or mantel all season long (and into the new year!). We make them only in October and Saturday is your final chance to take one home.

Come early for the best pick of the patch. 🎃

Our gardens are slowing down for now but we will be at the Flint Farmers' Market this Saturday and next with our dried floral pumpkins and autumn-inspired dried flower arrangements.

Guess what?

Tomorrow is our final Saturday of the season when we'll have our garden-fresh flowers at the Flint Farmers' Market 🧡🌿!

I'll be there the first two Saturdays of October, too, with our [unique & adorable] dried floral pumpkins!

My personal motto this year: "Prove Yourself Wrong!"

I always thought we didn't have enough space here at Twig End Farm to grow pumpkins. Pumpkin vines are bossy and sprawling, with large leaves, and love to climb over and smother nearby crops. Who has room for that nonsense on a farm that's less than an eighth of an acre? Not me!

Well, this year, I proved myself wrong.

I fell for 'Black Bear,' the smallest, darkest pumpkin one can grow. He's such a deep, dark green, he's nearly black. I couldn't NOT grow this beauty and I decided I'd grow 'Spark' and 'Caspertia' too. I attempted to grow them vertically, so they'd climb up our trellises and stay out of the way of the flowers. This worked, somewhat. I also realized we have unused margins here at Twig End; these crazy pumpkin vines took full advantage of all the edges and corners and niches they could find.

Yes, I will be growing pumpkins again. Probably more.

Yes, I proved myself wrong!

And I cannot wait to top these guys off with our dried flowers and seed pods!

Market Update:

We will be at the Flint Farmers' Market this Saturday (Sept 19) and next Saturday (Sept 26) with fresh flowers. These are our last weeks with fresh flowers for the 2026 growing season! If you haven't yet been by to experience the beauty, you'll want to stop in! We won't have our garden-fresh flowers again until next spring.

As always, we are under the pavilion. Rain or shine.

The first two Saturdays of October, we will also be at the market! We'll be there with our dried floral pumpkins. Our pumpkins are truly unique and such a perfect way to enjoy the magic of autumn. See stories for photo examples. And this year our pumpkins were grown right here at Twig End Farm! I cannot wait to share these sweet fellas with you.

The Lady Elenor is wearing a gorgeous gown of black-eyed Susan vine this season.

Each year, I attempt to grow an annual vine that will snake around her full shirt and add life to Lady Elenor, our captivating three dimensional garden trellis.

For the last two years, the vines sprouted but for one reason or another, did not grow. Ryan took a tree down recently, so this area in the garden now has more sunlight. And with more sunlight comes more opportunity for growth.

You can imagine what a delight it's been to watch these vines creep up and cover our garden guardian!

Special thanks to Farmyard Blooms + SE Michigan Grown Flowers for suggesting I try the black-eyed Susan vine.
