Meet Avery! 💜🐾
This beautiful pup just needs time, patience, and commitment. She’s been through a lot and has experienced so much instability, so things are more stressful for her right now. She’s working through some separation anxiety, but she can’t help it - every human she’s ever loved has given her up. 💔
“She needed a foster because she was climbing her kennel. She had broken toe nails and sore feet, which had been bleeding. When we picked her up, the bleeding had stopped. She was exhausted, lying down in a private room. She didn’t even lift her head to look at us. On the way home, she just laid down in the truck. The next three days, she just slept. No curiosity, no tail wags, and not much interest in us - just pure exhaustion.
There is still almost zero interest in bones and toys. She knows sit, but most of the time refuses and she doesn’t care if she gets a treat or not. We do have some new tastier treats we are going to try. She has slept in bed every night and she does like that. She seems to enjoy her walks, but she has an extremely high prey drive! That is about the only thing right now we are really working on while she learns to trust us. She is SO strong and can just about pull me across the yard when she sees a bunny.
BUT, with all of this, we do have some great news. We took her for a pup cup last night hoping she might realize we are here for her - and we know it helped! This morning I woke up to her pushing and nuzzling on me!! 😊” -Avery’s foster mom
⭐️ Avery is about 1.5 years old and 54 pounds. She’s looking for a family where she can be your one and only (no other dogs or cats) and would love to find a calm, peaceful household. She knows ‘sit’ and ‘shake’ and takes treats nicely. She is potty trained per her last adopter. She does well with children of all ages (meets required with kids under 5).
