🐾 WEEKLY DOG SPOTLIGHT — MILLIE MAE

Millie Mae started training with me on June 1, 2024, at around a year old, and she was my first 6-week Board & Train client outside of my own personal dogs.

She was smart, energetic, and playful — but reliability was the problem. She pulled badly on leash, ignored commands when she felt like it, and her previous training just hadn’t held up consistently.

Her family wanted to be able to take her everywhere with them and needed a very high level of obedience in public.

Millie Mae was an incredibly quick learner. After just a few repetitions, she usually understood exactly what I was asking. Over six weeks, we focused on turning that understanding into reliable obedience around real-world distractions.

By the end, she was still the same fun, energetic dog — she just had the control to go with it.

One of my favorite memories was teaching her place while my son climbed up beside her and copied everything she did. 😂 My kids have always been involved in the training, and moments like that make certain dogs especially memorable.

I still check in with her family from time to time, and she’s doing great. They take her on off-leash walks every evening and bring her along to places like Rural King.

That’s the goal: not just a trained dog, but a dog the family can confidently enjoy life with.
