🇺🇸🐾 We will never forget.
Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001.
Like so many Americans, we remember where we were that day. We remember watching something we couldn’t quite comprehend unfold and seeing ordinary people do extraordinary things for one another.
But being dog people, there’s another part of that day and the days that followed that has always touched us — the dogs.
Hundreds of search, rescue and comfort dogs worked alongside their handlers in the aftermath of 9/11. They climbed through rubble, searched for survivors, helped recover those who didn’t make it home, and simply sat beside people who needed comfort.
They didn’t know they were part of history.
They didn’t know the danger beneath their paws or understand the heartbreak surrounding them.
They just knew their person asked them to go.
So they went. ❤️
Anyone who has ever truly loved a dog knows that kind of loyalty. They trust us completely, and when we ask something of them, they’ll often give us everything they have.
Today we remember the nearly 3,000 people who never came home, the first responders who ran toward danger, the families whose lives changed forever, and the incredible dogs and handlers who worked side by side in the days that followed.
Some heroes wore uniforms.
Some wore collars.
All of them deserve to be remembered. 🇺🇸🐾
Never forget.
