This page is not our rescue's main page, it is only a simple way for people to see what is involved in being a volunteer for EHR and part of the kennel enrichment team, while also showing off some amazingly adoptable dogs. We, as volunteers, love every second we have to spend with the goofy and fun-loving babies of Eleventh Hour Rescue's kennel. Meet beautiful Bird! This lovely 5-year-old sweetheart was rescued from Georgia and is ready to find a loving forever home where she can feel safe, cherished, and adored!

Bird is an incredibly sweet, gentle girl with such a soft and lovable personality. She can be a little shy at first, but she is very friendly and enjoys receiving pets and affection. She has a quiet, tender nature that makes her so easy to fall in love with!

Bird walks nicely on a leash and gets along well with other dogs. She’s a wonderful girl who doesn’t need to be the center of attention to steal your heart. With a little patience, kindness, and love, Bird is sure to blossom into an amazing companion.

It's selfie Sunday with Sandy and her kennel buddy Matt! Just look at that happy girl on an adventure with Matt! Meet Sandy, our energetic and affectionate girl who's found herself at our shelter after her previous owner sadly decided they could no longer keep her. At 4 years old and fully grown at 55 lbs, Sandy has a joyful and enthusiastic personality that makes everyone smile This sweet girl loves her toys and getting plenty of pets. She's a quick learner too, already mastering basic commands like Sit, Lay, Roll over, and Paw. Sandy is both house trained and crate trained, too! While Sandy gets along well with all people, she would be best suited for a family with older or considerate kids who can match her energy and enthusiasm. And let's not forget her love for other dogs, Sandy is a social butterfly with her canine friends! Fun day out for Caleb! 🏖️

This past week, Caleb, who is currently being fostered by Pack Mentality, LLC, went on an adventure with our kennel volunteer, Luigi, and PupsandRecreation! We are so grateful that he got to have this amazing day out. Here’s what Luigi had to say:

“Caleb had quite the day with us! We took him with us on our last beach day field trip of the year to Asbury Park. Everyone on the boardwalk was commenting on how beautiful he is and was taking pictures. He was a big hit!

He did so well. We passed strollers, kids with food, reactive dogs, and lots of bikes and scooters. He didn’t react at all!

He cuddled up to my dog Barry and slept the entire way home! It was a great day and he was so good with all the pups.”

Caleb arrived this summer and surprisingly has been waiting several months for his forever home. He is a 5 and a half year old husky/shepherd mix who loves other dogs. Caleb would be perfect for an adopter who wants to include their dog on all their adventures! He loves hiking, swimming, and rides well in the car. Join us tomorrow, October 18th at the Rockaway Mall for a ghoulishly fun day with some amazing adoptable pups (as well as cats/bunnies)! We have a great crew of kennel, Camp Bow Wow Rockaway and Pack Mentality, LLC pups, as well as foster dogs who are ready to win you over and steal your heart. ❤️

Last month was a truly heartbreaking month with the loss of 3 of our adopted long timer kennel dogs. 💔 Each of these precious pups spent the last several years in a loving home with our very own kennel volunteers who gave them each a second chance after they had been returned by previous adopters. While we are all so saddened by their losses, we are grateful that they spent their final years cherished and loved beyond measure.

🐾 Rink: Rink was a foster failure by volunteers Chase and Keith. She was returned to our care after two failed adoptions, including one where she was reported to not be a fan of men. Rink was in the kennel on and off for several years before what was just supposed to be a weekend sleepover that turned into forever. She spent the last 5 years going on countless adventures with Chase and Keith and living the life that we could only dream of for most of our long timer kennel dogs. Rest in peace, Rink. 🌈 🐾

🐾 Hudson: Hudson was adopted by our volunteer, Nicole, and went off to live a life of adventure out west with her and her dog, Judy. Hudson was adopted as a puppy and returned to our care after 3 and a half years for guarding in the home. He then spent about a year and a half at our kennel before finding his forever home with Nicole, who fell in love with him as a kennel volunteer. Hudson loved hiking, camping, and spending time with other dogs. Rest in peace, Hudson. 🌈 🐾

🐾 Boris: Boris was adopted as a puppy after coming to EHR all the way from Kosovo. He was returned to our rescue in the summer of 2020 due to his family having a baby and Boris not being a good candidate to live with children. He spent about two and a half years at our kennel following his return before going home with a longtime kennel volunteer, Anne. He lived his final years in an understanding home that was equipped for his special needs while also enjoying fun dog friendly vacations with his forever mom. Rest in peace, Boris. 🌈 🐾

When a volunteer loves a kennel dog and wants to get them exposure, sometimes they get creative and wear them around all the time. And convince other volunteers to wear them around all the time, too! What makes that so easy is having such a photogenic dog like Kylo whose pictures make spectacular t-shirts that everyone smiles at.

Kylo has waited at our kennel for years to find a home and we will stop at nothing to get him the attention he deserves. While our volunteers adore Kylo, the one who makes these shirts really hopes this is the last year she needs to make a new one for him. She hopes this is his year to find a home. Unless a promise for a shirt once a year is enough to convince an adopter to take this good boy home furever, then she would consider that offer. 😉🙃
