This is Coco. She is a Big Brown who was trapped in a building over the summer, along with others. She was extremely dehydrated and emaciated and very weak. In rehab, she has more than doubled her weight, and is now up to a normal weight. But she still cannot fly well. Most of her cohorts have already been released, but it’s looking like she’ll be here this winter, along with a few others.
Please remember to never handle a bat, or any wild animal, with bare hands. Call a rehabber! And for bats in northern Arizona, call Northern Arizona Bat Rescue.

That’s a wrap on our annual bat walks! This educational event was a partnership with Northern Arizona Bat rescue.

Thank you to all who attended. We had the most participants that we have ever had and such amazing engagement and enthusiasm. We are sorry not everyone was able to attend. Next year we will account for much higher capacity so that everyone can participate. We could not be more appreciative of everyone.

Until next year here are some ways to help bats:

1. Never handle a bat bare handed.
2. If you are concerned about a bat, reach out to a bat rehabilitator
3. Continue to break the negative stigmas about bats through positive talk and personal education
4. Look into Northern Arizona Bat Rescue or contact us if you would like to get involved in bat rehabilitation

Got a clump of 6 bats yesterday who were disturbed. There are 3 youngsters and two pretty big babies glommed onto her.
