This is by far the most heartbreaking post we have ever had to make, and we've needed to take a few days before we could share.
Last week we lost one of our closest friends, as well as the one who inspired the start of this program. Many of you have heard the story of how Dan's best friend was in a car accident in highschool that left him in a wheelchair, and how watching his journey to get a service dog and his relationship with his dog, Chev, inspired us to begin our own program to hopefully help provide service candidates and support dogs for families that needed them.
Last week, Robbie unexpectedly passed and our hearts have never been more broken. Robbie was a friend, brother, and inspiration to so many. He never gave up, even when every odd was stacked against him. He didn't complain or let his accident make him bitter. Instead he pushed forward, beating so many odds and pushed so many others through his kindness, words of encouragement, and fierce determination. He was honest, and straight to the point. You could always count on him for a good laugh, but also a deep conversation. He loved deeply and was a loyal and kind friend, even when the world was unkind at times.
Today the world feels so much emptier without him. This program has impacted so many people because of him. We felt we needed to honor him and for those of you who have gotten a pup from us, know that it was because of Robbie.
We will miss you friend and will love you forever.
Dan and I will be taking some time to grieve. We are eternally grateful have an amazing team that will be able to respond to messages and share updates, but we personally will be offline for a while. Thank you for your patience while we grieve.
