Hi, it's Piper. You may have heard of me.

I've been at HSHC for a little while now, which honestly just means I've had more time to perfect my personality. And it is, if I do say so myself, excellent. 😌

I'll be honest, I'm a girl who knows what she wants and takes things at her own pace. I'm also pretty stunning, yet nobody's quite sure where these cute wrinkles came from. (Anyone want to donate a DNA test kit? Asking for a friend. The friend is me.)

But here's the thing. All it takes is a little time in the yard together. Just us, some sunshine, maybe a toy or two, and before you know it you'll have a new best friend. 💕

I'm 5 years old, housebroken, crate-trained, and I walk great on a leash. I do best as the only pet in the home, and I'm looking for a household with teens 16 and up. I just got back from a foster home where my foster mom called me the absolute sweetest dog. Her words, not mine. I mean, I agree, but still.

Come ask for me by name. It's Piper.

💕🐾 Meet Tabbie | 1-Year-Old Cat for Adoption 🐾💕

Tabbie is a sweet girl who's been through a lot in the short time she spent as a stray before coming to the shelter. At just 1 year old, she's already a mom of four, but now that her kittens are old enough to find forever homes of their own, Tabbie is ready to start her next chapter as your loyal companion.

This sweet girl is very affectionate and playful. When you walk up to her kennel door, she'll greet you with a deep purr and a gentle headbutt to let you know she's ready to snuggle.😻 Now that she has some extra free time, she loves to spend her days window watching and playing with string toys. She also loved spending time with other cats when she lived in her foster home.

Tabbie is litter box trained and cannot wait to become your resident lap cat in the near future.🏡💕 If you would like to meet her this weekend, we would love to welcome you to the shelter. We'll be open 12- 5 p.m. daily (closed Wednesdays).

Haze will get his second chance thanks to our Survivor Program... but there will soon be hundreds more like him counting on your support. 💔

Originally found as a stray in Muncie, Haze was transferred to HSHC with significant medical needs. As a double Merle, we knew this 4-month-old Australian Shepherd mix would face an uphill battle with his health, and unfortunately, it wasn't long after Haze arrived at the shelter that his health took a turn for the worse.

After being treated for an upper respiratory infection at the shelter, Haze developed a severe case of pneumonia that left him hospitalized. With lots of intensive care, Haze is expected to make a full recovery, and we are overjoyed to say that when he is ready to leave the hospital, he will be going home with a new forever family.

There is always a cause for celebration when pets like Haze find their happy endings, but he is sadly only one of thousands of Survivors who come through our doors every year. And with Haze's vet bill alone expected to exceed $10,000, our Survivor fund is quickly depleted.

Everyone who works here has a Legend story. 🥰

The volunteer who seeks him out first thing every shift. The staff member who ends up sitting on the floor of his kennel for way longer than planned. The groomer who couldn't get him in the tub with treats no matter what she tried, so she let him bring his toy instead. He held on tight at first, and then somewhere along the way he felt comfortable enough to drop it and just smother her in kisses. 🧼

That's just who he is. A little cautious at first, and then completely, wholeheartedly yours. ❤️

Legend is a 6-year-old guy who knows his commands, loves a tug game, and will show up to any activity with a toy already in his mouth just in case. He's done great with dogs, has lived with young kids, and just prefers his home to be a cat-free zone.

Legend has been here since January. He's quietly won over every single person who's spent time with him, and he deserves a home where the people feel the same way. Come meet him. We have a feeling you'll have a Legend story of your own pretty soon! 🌟

Sometimes it can be hard to tell when our feline friends are trying to show their love. A slow blink here, a soft purr there... but for Beau, you'll know the moment she's fallen in love when she chooses to lie down beside you. ✨

This sweet girl has spent so much of her life trying to avoid the people and pets around her, and the hustle and bustle of the shelter hasn't helped her gain the trust she needs to thrive in a home.💔 With Beau's introverted nature, meeting new people every day can be a little overwhelming.

Beau won't be the first to greet you when you walk through our cattery doors, and we can't promise that she will fall in love with you overnight, but we can say that earning her trust will be worth the wait.

Are Your Pets Prepared for the 4th of July Festivities?🇺🇸🎆 We're offering a FREE MICROCHIP to the first 10 visitors at our Saturday Safety Microchip Match on June 27th, with discounted microchips offered from 9:00am - 11:00am.

Fireworks may be fun for us, but they can be terrifying for our pets. With the holiday just two weeks away, now is the time to take early action. 💥

Make an appointment with your vet today if your pet needs medication to cope with fireworks anxiety, and make sure your ID tags and microchips are up to date‼️ Scared pets may bolt, so you want to make sure any information on your tags and microchips are current.

Don't have a microchip for your pet? We've got you covered! HSHC is hosting our Saturday Safety Microchip Match on June 27th, from 9:00am - 11:00am. In an effort to help our community keep their animals safe this 4th of July, we are reducing all microchip procedures to just $25 when you make a $25 donation to our Matching Campaign.😻 PLUS, if you're one of the first 10 individuals to stop by, we will give one microchip for free!

This is Rizzo, and he would like you to know that belly rubs are his love language. 🐾

He's a 5-year-old cattle dog mix living in foster, and he is everything. Housebroken, crate-trained, walks great on leash, knows sit, lie down, and give paw, and has fully mastered the treadmill. Yes, the treadmill. He's basically already your most motivated roommate.

Rizzo loves a good walk and knows how to soak up the outdoors, but at the end of the day, he just wants to be with you. He'll treat your arrival home like the best moment of the entire day and claim a spot right next to you for the rest of it. He'd love a calm home with someone patient enough to let him settle in and show you who he really is. He's currently living in foster with a cat and doing great, so with a slow intro, he should fit right in. He's open to meeting the right dog and does great with kids 8 and up.

The shelter may be closed for adoptions today, but Bowie is still eager to meet you at our local partner, PetSmart!

Bowie is 10 pounds of pure love bug energy, and he is eagerly awaiting his second chance at a forever home. His perfect litterbox manners, affectionate personality, and impeccable taste in treats make him a great candidate as a family pet. 😻 He has even enjoyed spending his time with younger kiddos and another feline friend in the past.
