✨ Feature Friday: Meet Meekah! ✨

Miss Meekah has been waiting for her forever family for over a year, and we just can’t understand why. 💔

She’s one of those dogs who completely steals your heart. Everyone here absolutely adores her, and while we’ll probably ugly cry the day she leaves us, we promise they’ll be happy tears—because it will mean our sweet girl finally found the family she’s been waiting so patiently for.

❤️ About Meekah:
🐾 She absolutely loves children and has so much love to give.
🐾 She would thrive as the only pet, where she can soak up all the attention.
🐾 She can do well with other dogs with slow, proper introductions.
🐾 No cats, please. She can be around them on leash, but if a cat runs, her prey drive may take over.

Meekah has waited long enough. She deserves a cozy bed, a family to call her own, and someone who sees just how special she truly is.

Spay/Neuter will forever be the hill I die on.

I hope when you look at this photo you see one of the lucky mama dogs from a "reputable breeder" who got a second chance.

Beauty was discarded at 9 years old when she could no longer pump out puppies.

She has pretty severe allergies that are a financial/time investment.

Not to mention she passed along the allergies to many of her puppies.

On a human level, most moms can relate to feeling undervalued and less-important once you have kids at times.

Imagine if around 40- your family discarded you because you were no longer important.

Remember this photo and think of the moms and the condition of their life when:
- Are at a the mall looking at puppies.
- Picking out puppies on Facebook
- Buying a puppy from a breeder but don't see the condition of where the parents live.
- At a fair picking out puppies.
- Pulling a puppy from a random neighbor who had an "accidental litter" but still won't get the mom spayed.
- Adopting from rescues who intake the puppies but never question where mom is or have mom and don't spay her.
- Adopting from rescues who pull from breeders (for financial gain when the breeder can't sell them, and the breeder isn't shutting down and mom STILL doesn't get spayed.)

Beauty matters. Mom's matter.

Stop turning a blind eye because "puppies and kittens are cute". Or I just wanted to, they were so cute.

We need to do better and set ourselves to a higher standard.

Puzzle Competition Details:
* Teams must sign up in advance
* 6 teams total
* Teams consist of 2-4 people
* 1 hour to complete 650 piece puzzle
* $40 entry per group
*There will be a prize basket to the winning group!

Check in the day of: 1-1:45pm, start time is promptly at 2pm!

🐾Medical Help Needed 🩺

We still have vet bills to catch up on, and today we’re sharing the story of Butler and Chaplin.

Butler and Chaplin were a senior pair who were recently surrendered into our care. During intake, Chaplin’s medical evaluation came back very very concerning. After further examination, our veterinary team determined that he was terminal and it would be unfair and selfish of us to further his suffering.

Sadly, we had to make the incredibly difficult decision to say goodbye and help Chaplin pass peacefully. 🌈💔

Butler is settling in well after losing his longtime companion and is now ready for the next chapter. He’s looking for a forever home where he can spend his golden years surrounded by love.

Does anyone remember Shelly?

Shelly was a kitty we adopted out almost 3 years ago.

She was dumped off at my home violently (before I got smart and set boundaries so the storefront happened, thanks again to my incredible landlords) and had damage to where she needed both eyes removed resulted in her being blind.

We removed her eyes as they were useless and could cause irritation.

Adopting a blind cat is something I do my best to educate, establish a small space so they know where the little box is, establish routine, etc.

When her previous adopter reached out for help, stating she had tried everything, I offered phone call assistance, that was denied, and so we tried out best to coach her through urinating out of the litter box options. Apparently she had been stressed and doing this for a year. I would have loved to help address this a year ago. I personally have a cat that is sensitive and has urination issues, and I have quite a bit of knowledge.

Cats can be sensitive, change in routine can be hard for some. I am not convinced the options/suggestions I gave were tried. I asked for vet records from the previous 3 years multiple times and they were never given.

And please, do not ever diaper a cat. This can cause even more stress, and if you surrender a cat back to me, please always have them in a carrier. Especially if they are blind. They can be stressed from traveling, etc.

We have had Shelly back since Tuesday, sweet as can be, no urinating issues, we will continue to monitor her as we move her into large spaces.

Shelly had a clear check up on day of surrender. Please donate if you can to cover Shelly's medical cost.

Anytime I adopt out an animal and they are brought back, I feel like I failed them.

All in all, I am happy to have her back, and happy she was brought back vs. a negative alternative.
