👋 This account has been quiet, but my schedule has been busy! Yes, I am still open for behavior consulting and family dog support. The best way to connect with me is always during a “live” appointment (in-person or virtually).

🍁 Autumn is some of the best dog activity weather! I look forward to seeing you out there

I took my dog, Chips, Up North for the first time this past week. Do you think he could have ever imagined this view when he spent the first few years of his life in a literal trash dump?

❤️🍒✋👆

For anyone “Up North” who needs dog behavior support- you can access support with me virtually and plan in advance for potential in-person. I will travel to certain areas (some travel fees and advance planning required) around Higgins/Houghton Lake & Traverse City.

Summer openings are getting VERY limited. Reach out soon!

☀️Summer Updates😎 (and some recent pics)
HELLO! It is officially busy season at KSDT. I am scheduling new dogs, late summer and early fall already!

If a puppy is in your households future, I recommend reaching out in advance.

Busy season also means my cancellation policy is in full effect (TL;dr- 24 hrs on dog walking/ 48 on behavior and training sessions) Please keep this in mind and don’t take it personally 😉

🪩I will be CLOSED and away from all inboxes beginning late afternoon, this Friday 5/22 - Mon 5/25. 🥁

🐾Dog Walking is currently FULL. You are welcome to reach out and request to be put on a wait list.

📸 Hope to see you out there this season! Thanks for being a supporter of KSDT.

On Mothers Day eve, my nervous wreck dog walked- with his actual legs- in the downtown area of my neighborhood 😍❤️ Chips has been part of my household for almost 3.5 years and I’m still seeing him “come out of his shell”.

Was he brave enough to pass a Dalmatian coming head on, on the same side of the sidewalk? No! Did he walk down a road that had traffic noise? Yes!

It’s the little things ❤️

👀 Is your dog triggered by the sight of things through your fence line? I get a lot of questions about what do to when a brand new privacy fence isn’t possible. I have a couple tricks and BONUS these are also RENTAL FRIENDLY.

🎋If you have an existing fence- heavy tarps (cheapest) or bamboo (pictured here) can easily be zip tied to the existing fence. My bamboo wall has held up through all the wind storms and 1 winter season!

I purchased mine on Amazon (check listings for details on how dense it is) but you can also get it though Home Depot or Lowe’s. The portion you can see in my example is double thickness.

💡This weekend I added these light up fake hedge panels from Costco to add some more privacy. These were easily zip tied and took myself and my 12 year old helper about 5 mins to install. I’ve also seen these placed directly on existing fences or around elevated decks.

Dogs will still be able to👂and 👃 things in the environment- but I find for many dogs, the decrease in visual stimulation can help tremendously.

If you dog will jump on or bite at this fencing, it may sustain damage. In that case I would start with a zip tied tarp and see how much it helps.

Did this help you with an idea for your yard? Had you tried something similar or different that’s working great for you? I’d love to hear about it

🌷 Time for our annual tulip pic! 📸
I ❤️ these little yearly rituals with my long time 🐶 friends.
When I tell you I aim to see your dog for the duration of their lifetime, I mean it! It’s normal for dogs and human households to go through various ages and stages. Behavior support is not just for puppies!

Thank you Zoe for being one of my best girlfriends all these years 🌸

Reach out to get on my spring schedule and start making new traditions with your dog this season!

🐇 Happy Spring! This is a perfect time of year to think about growth and beginning’s. Pictured here is the first dog I adopted as an adult. LOLA was my 23rd birthday gift to myself and she looked much like fantasy dog I always pictured in my head.

❤️ I loved her immensely and she was A LOT of dog. She truly is the reason I am this person today. Because of her I started studying about dogs, beyond being “just” a dog owner, in 2007.

🌸 I know many of you are familiar with the story; Fantasy dog comes home and doesn’t act like the fantasy dog we imagined. I’ve lived it in my own household through many ages and stages, and multiple dogs.

🌼People often tell me in sessions, my recommendations and training plans, aren’t what they first imagined either. The relief that “dog training” doesn’t have to be hard complicated stuff. Learning about & meeting your unique individual dog’s welfare needs can accomplish so much.

💐Can I help you live easier with your dog this season? Visit my website to schedule a consult this spring (link in bio for IG users).
