Finding the right balance for your dog's bath schedule keeps their coat clean while protecting their natural skin barrier.

1. Stick to a four-to-six-week interval for most household dogs to keep them fresh without drying out their sensitive skin.
2. Brush your dog thoroughly once or twice a week to pull out loose fur and surface dirt before it becomes trapped in the coat.
3. Use a gentle, dog-specific shampoo rather than human soap, as different pH levels can cause uncomfortable skin irritation.
4. Check the skin around the paws and belly for any redness or dryness, as these areas often show signs if the bathing schedule is too aggressive.
5. Keep the water temperature lukewarm during the scrub to ensure the experience remains calm and enjoyable for your pet.
6. Towel dry them completely after the rinse to prevent damp fur from trapping odors or causing skin hotspots.
