Meet Dr. Abby McKisson, another one of our Midwest natives! Dr. McKisson grew up in Oklahoma and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University. She also completed an additional year of training by doing a small animal rotating internship at Kansas State University. During school, she met her fiancée who inspired the great move to the pacific northwest, where she has now spent the last five years in general practice.
Growing up surrounded by an assortment of animals, large and small, helped shape Dr. McKisson’s passion for animal care from an early age. Today, her current pet family includes two cats, Archie and Neep, and two dogs, Phinney and Gertie. Outside of work, Dr. McKisson enjoys spending time with friends, exploring the great outdoors, and camping with her fiancée and their four pets in their Casita trailer. She values maintaining a healthy work-life balance and making time for the people and activities she loves outside of veterinary medicine.
One important piece of advice Dr. McKisson shares with clients is that pet owners truly know their pets best. She believes owners are their pets’ greatest advocates and encourages clients to ask questions so they feel confident and informed about their pet’s care and treatment plan.
