HAPPY FRIDAY! ๐ŸŽ‰ ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป

This week we have two pets of the week: OLIVER AND LOUISA!

These snuggle bugs are best friends who love adventuring in the outdoors, climbing trees, visiting neighbors, and snacking on freeze dried fish! Mom says that Oliverโ€™s hobbies include catching bugs at night, while Louisa just loves a good cuddle.

WEDNESDAYS ARE FOR DOCTOR APPRECIATION!

Meet Dr. Savannah Sitton

Originally from Eastern Washington, Dr. Sitton graduated from Washington State University and has been practicing veterinary medicine since 2023. She started her career with a simple goal: helping pets in need.
Like all of our doctors, Dr. Sitton has her own pets that she cares for at home. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys spending time outdoors kayaking, playing board games, and trying her hand at bird watching.
When it comes to maintaining balance in a demanding profession, Dr. Sitton believes that plenty of sleep on days off is essential. As she continues to grow in her career, she remains open to new opportunities and experiences.
One piece of advice she likes to share with pet owners is to thoroughly research a pet's needs, energy level, and typical role before bringing them home.

PET OF THE WEEK: DIOR
๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‚ Happy 1st Birthday, Miss Dior! ๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ‰

This loyal and loving Dachshund is turning ONE on Monday, and we couldnโ€™t be more excited to celebrate her special day! ๐Ÿฉท Mom says the festivities will include a birthday cake, plenty of treats, and a little paw-ty fit for a princess. ๐Ÿพโœจ

Miss Dior is as sweet as they come. While she can be a little shy at first, she definitely has a feisty, sassy side that keeps everyone smiling. She loves chasing after her ball, spending time outdoors, and tagging along on car rides. But if you ask Dior, her favorite pastime is curling up for cuddles with Dad. ๐Ÿ’•

We hope your birthday is filled with belly rubs, extra treats, lots of love, and all the fun your little heart can handle. Help us wish Miss Dior a very happy first birthday! ๐ŸŽˆ๐Ÿถ๐Ÿฉท

Meet Dr. Zoe Newsome-McDonnell!

Zoe has been part of the Sacajawea Veterinary Hospital team for nearly two years. She graduated from the University of Edinburghโ€™s Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies and brings a unique international background and passion for animal care to our clinic.

Zoe was born and raised in Ireland but spent many summers in the United States growing up. In fact, much of her early veterinary experience was gained in North Carolina, volunteering at wildlife and small animal shelters, riding her mother's horses, and working alongside her favorite ambulatory equine veterinarians (shout out to Dr. Gilmette and Dr. White!) Although she originally considered a career in equine or mixed animal medicine, her interests gradually shifted towards small animal practice during veterinary school.

Zoe is a strong advocate for maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Outside of the clinic, she is an avid cat lover who enjoys exploring the Pacific Northwest, hiking with her partner, and spending time with her adventurous cat, Moose. Looking ahead, some of her career goals include becoming more involved in outreach projects and potentially providing international veterinary care to animals in underserved communities around the world.

One piece of advice from Dr. Zoe: I always encourage clients to approach their veterinary team with kindness and patience. Behind every appointment is a group of people who care enormously about your pets and are doing their very best. Open communication, mutual respect, and a little grace on both sides helps us work together to provide the best possible care to our patients.

It's time we talked summertime heat: Know the signs of heat stress and how to plan outings with your pet accordingly.

As the weather continues to heat up with summer, we want your pet to be comfortable. Continue to monitor your pet throughout the day, especially on the hot ones. Make sure they have unlimited water and a shady spot to rest. Plan walks/runs during the early morning or later evenings. Do not leave your pet outside in the heat for too long or in any car, even when a window is cracked.

Your pet's safety and wellness is our priority!
