🐾 Looking at the Bright Side: A Week of Miracles! 🐾

While this has undeniably been one of our most challenging weeks—navigating an influx of over 20 large dogs coming into our care from severe cruelty and abandonment situations—we are choosing to focus on the incredible silver linings and victories that made space for them just in time!
Behind every difficult moment is a community and a team of partners making miracles happen:

Monday Spay/Neuter Success: We sent 20 cats and 11 dogs on our monthly Fix’em Clinic run to be spayed and neutered! 🩺✨

Tuesday TNR Impact: 13 TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) cats made their way to Critter Connection for spay/neuter services, helping us proactively manage our community cat population! 🐈

Thursday Partner Lifeline: One of our gracious rescue partners stepped up in a massive way, pulling 11 dogs and 9 cats from our shelter!

If these wonderful animals hadn't found their way to freedom and new beginnings just when they did, we literally would have had nowhere to put the precious souls arriving from these heartbreaking neglect and cruelty cases—and we still have more waiting to come in from the same situation.

URGENT: Fayette County Animal Shelter is at Maximum Capacity!

We have had an unimaginably difficult week, taking in over 20 large dogs from severe animal cruelty and abandonment situations, not including the few owner surrenders. To make matters worse, we still have nearly 10 more dogs from one of these ongoing cases—which involved nearly 20 dogs total living in deplorable conditions—that we must rescue and bring to safety immediately.
Because of this crisis, we are officially closed for intake.
We know many community members have been waiting patiently on our owner-surrender waitlist, and our hearts are with you. To be fair to everyone who has waited, we will continue pulling from our waitlist as space allows, but our kennel space is severely restricted. Because these animal control and cruelty cases involve animals coming directly from neglect and abuse, we must prioritize them as they have nowhere else to go. We ask for your incredible patience and understanding as we navigate this emergency.

FOUR BOYS. FOUR HEARTS. FOUR CHANCES AT A FOREVER HOME. 🏡💕

Meet Popeye, Robbie, Cheese, and Riser! 🐶❤️

These four handsome boys have been patiently waiting for something so many dogs take for granted… a family to call their own.

They aren't asking for much. Just a warm bed instead of a cold kennel, a soft place to lay their heads, a loving hand to comfort them, and someone who will never give up on them. 💔

Each of these boys has a past that hasn't always been kind. They've known fear, uncertainty, and heartbreak. But despite everything they've been through, they have learned to love and trust people again. ❤️

All four boys need to be the ONLY PET in their forever homes, as they aren't comfortable sharing their space with other dogs or cats.

But you know what? THAT'S OKAY! ❤️

Not every dog needs a furry brother or sister. Some just need ONE person, ONE family, and ONE chance to finally feel safe and loved. These boys have so much love to give, and they deserve to be someone's whole world. 🥹

Sweet Pistol went to his new home today and upon taking him to potty he slipped his collar. Pistol is microchipped & neutered! He’s missing from the Victor, WV area. He is nervous so please don’t chase! Contact us at 304-574-2722 or message here. We need the community to keep an eye out for this sweet boy so we can reunite him with his family.
