Friends of Cumberland County AnimalS The mission of the FOCCAS is to work in conjunction with CCAC to promote animal welfare initiatives. This is an open intake, county shelter.

This page is managed and maintained by volunteers supporting the Cumberland County Animal Shelter, the animals under the shelter's care and the community the shelter serves. IT IS NOT ADMINISTERED, MANAGED OR AFFILIATED WITH CUMBERLAND COUNTY GOVERNMENT OR THE CUMBERLAND COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER. Animals WILL BE EUTHANIZED for space when the shelter is full, as it is every week. DO NOT wait if you ar

e interested in any animal listed. Page Policies:

- Rude comments, personal attacks on shelter staff, volunteers, county officials, page admins, former owners or anyone else WILL NOT be tolerated. Admins will ban people who do not follow this policy.

- Comments found to be threatening, hurtful or offensive in nature will be removed and the commenter may be banned.

- We give you permission to share our animals and pictures - PLEASE DO! However, please leave contact information attached to the picture so that, four shares later, someone wanting to help or adopt one of our animals has the correct information.

- We cannot place a hold on animals through this page. YOU MUST CONTACT THE SHELTER DIRECTLY at 910-321-6852.

- Animals should not be considered safe until word comes from this page that the animal has left the shelter.

- All animals have only a 72 hour required hold and with the volume entering the shelter each animal should be considered extremely urgent.

* house trained - per previous owner, she will whine at door to let you know when she needs to go out
* crate trained - sleeps in crate - per previous owner
* she likes walks, playing fetch, toys, car rides, and being a lap dog
* knows commands sit, lay, and down
* submissive and wants to please
* shy but wants to trust. The noisy and unfamiliar shelter environment is overwhelming for her
* easy to leash and walks well on the leash
* welcomes pets and any comfort you are willing to give her
* she explored the yard some but just wanted to be close by my side
* will sit for treats and take them gently
* paid no mind to other dogs in the yard
* wants to be near you and leans in close for pets

Luna is a gorgeous girl who was surrendered by no fault of her own along with her brother Rascal. They were both adopted from our shelter as young puppies. The shelter environment is very overwhelming for Luna. She mostly lays on her bed with her fluffy blanket waiting and hoping to see a familiar face. She doesn't understand where her family is and why Rascal is not right there with her. She is surrounded by noisy dogs barking and unfamiliar faces. Luna welcomed all of my attention and snuggled up close to my legs for pets. She rested her head on my legs as I spoke to her softly and tried to give her some form of comfort.
The shelter environment can be a scary place for any dog. Poor Luna is missing her family terribly and is very sad. She had the same owner since she was a young puppy and they gave detailed information about Luna. She and her brother Rascal were surrendered together by no fault of their own due to an overseas military move. The owner tried for several months to get them homes but was not successful.
Luna is a good girl who is simply sad and missing her family. She welcomes your attention and once she is out of the noisy and scary shelter environment she will be just fine. She just needs you to give her a chance. She's scared, sad, lonely, confused, and missing the only family she has ever known. Please give sweet Luna a chance, she will be a wonderful and faithful furry family member. Luna is ready to leave the shelter life behind and get back to having a family to share life and love with. Come on in to meet her! Our shelter is full!

Belle is a happy and sweet pup with a soft fur coat and big smiles. Sadly she has found herself at the shelter after she was wandering around alone. She is a gorgeous and sweet dog who loves everyone. She is super loving and enjoys all your company. She will make a wonderful addition for anyone. Come on in to meet Belle, our shelter is full and she needs you!

Rascal is a handsome and happy boy with big smiles for everyone! He is looking forward to having a new forever home. He had the same owner most all his life and they gave detailed information about Rascal. He and his sister Luna were surrendered together by no fault of their own due to an overseas military move. The owner tried for months to get them homes but was not successful. Rascal has a good temperament and he enjoys spending time with you! He is a wonderful boy who has a lot of love to give. Rascal is ready to leave the shelter life behind and get back to having a family to share life and love with. Come on in to meet him!

A few things about me...

* 4 month old German Shepherd
* not spayed yet but she will be

* brought in as stray after being found alone on Atlantic Ave.
* shy and overwhelmed - the noisy shelter environment is scary for for her
* quiet as a mouse
* she doesn't mind pets and once she sees you mean no harm, she leans in close for pets and seeks comfort by sitting close to you
* gentle puppy
* gave me tiny little kisses
* quiet and attentive

The shelter environment is scary and overwhelming for Henrietta with all the noisy dogs barking and unfamiliar faces. She lays in the front corner of her kennel. She has sad eyes and longs for any comfort you are willing to give her. She allows pets, and once she feels safe, she relaxes more and and welcomes the attention.
Henrietta is quiet, calm, and attentive, and she only wants to please. She enjoyed back rubs and gentle pets. She sat right next to my leg soaking up all the attention.
Henrietta took treats carefully from my hands and gave me tiny little kisses. She is hoping for a family to come take her home quickly! Please don't pass by this baby in this big and noisy shelter, she need you!

Hepsie is a very sweet girl. She greeted me at her kennel door with tail wags and a pretty smile. She has good manners and walks great on the leash. She quickly showed off her sweet and loving personality. Hepsie is a happy, friendly, and smart girl. She's a loveable dog who is surely going to make a great furry companion. Hepsie is in our full shelter and she needs you.

* he's been getting extra food to help him gain some weight and he's looking better now

* good manners - he is quiet and well behaved in his kennel.

* big fan of treats and sat for them

Zeus greeted me at his kennel door with a friendly face and tail wags. He was happy to see me. He welcomed me into his space and he enjoyed endless back scratches and ear scrubs. Zeus was calm, quiet, and well behaved at all times. He is a big fan of treats and he took them gently from my hand. Zeus showed off his sweet personality and I enjoyed spending time with him. He hasn't had the best life and is ready to leave his sad past behind. Zeus is ready for a new beginning and he hopes to share his life and his love with you.

* owner surrender due owner having a farm and he doesn't like their chickens - will chase them
* dog friendly - per previous owner
* NO chickens
* friendly - hangs out at the front of his kennel as he's ready to make new friends
* welcomes all pets and enjoys attention
* knows the sit command and wants to please
* good manners
* he has those sad eyes they long to love and be loved in return
* he will need a secure yard

Arrow is a gorgeous, sweet boy! He is friendly, social, and ready to make a new friend. He is quiet and calm in the kennel. He greeted me with those baby blue eyes just longing for attention and love. He was happy to see a visitor and quickly showed off his sweet personality! Arrow loves people and just wants to be by your side getting your pets and love.
He's smart and knows the sit command. He took treats very gently from my hand and gave kisses to say thank you.
Handsome Arrow is sweet, happy, friendly, and enjoyable to be around. Surely there is someone out there who needs this good boy in their life! He is not a fan of chickens and will need a secure yard. Our shelter is very full, who can give Arrow a home?

Pippi is a happy and friendly puppy. She has yet to meet a stranger and she loves attention. She is is eager to hang out with you.
