๐พA Quick Health Update from Waggers๐พ
We wanted to keep our Waggers family informed.
Over the past several days, we've had **a couple of dogs** develop symptoms consistent with kennel cough. At this time, the number of cases remains very limited, and all of our other daycare and boarding guests are doing well. We are continuing to monitor everyone closely and have increased our cleaning and sanitizing procedures out of an abundance of caution.
As always, **every dog attending daycare and boarding at Waggers is required to be current on their Rabies, Bordetella, and DHLPP vaccinations.** These vaccinations are one of the best ways to help protect dogs from serious illness. However, while the Bordetella vaccine greatly reduces the risk and severity of kennel cough, it does not completely prevent it. Vaccinated dogs can still develop kennel coughโthey typically just experience much milder symptoms.
Kennel cough is an unfortunate risk anywhere dogs gather, including daycare, boarding, grooming facilities, dog parks, training classes, and even veterinary clinics. While we take pride in maintaining a clean, sanitized facility and do everything in our power to help prevent the spread of illness, no facility can guarantee that kennel cough will never occur.
If your dog has recently visited Waggers, we simply ask that you monitor them over the next 10โ14 days for symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, nasal discharge, lethargy, or a decreased appetite. If you notice any of these symptoms, please keep your pup home from daycare or boarding until they have recovered, contact your veterinarian, and let us know. Keeping symptomatic dogs home is one of the best ways we can all work together to protect the health of every dog in our care.
We truly appreciate your trust, understanding, and continued support. The health and safety of our furry guests is always our top priority, and we will continue taking every precaution possible to provide a safe, clean, and healthy environment for everyone.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. Thank you for trusting us with your furry family members! โค๏ธ๐ถ
