Before the expansion plans, interviews, systems, and growth… there were walks like this. 🐾

Every morning, I still get to spend an hour with Bonnie, Clyde, Lacy, and Pebbles.

We’ve walked the same Johnson loop more times than I could count — through neighborhoods, across the bridge, onto the trail system, and back around. It’s one of the few regular field assignments I’ve kept as Solgave has grown and my role has shifted more toward leadership, training, hiring, and building what comes next.

And I’m grateful for that.

Dog walking has always been more than getting miles in. It’s awareness. Reading body language. Watching the environment. Adjusting for weather. Knowing each dog well enough to understand what they need before they have to tell you.

These four have become part of the rhythm of my own life, and in a lot of ways they represent what our walking program has always been about: consistency, trust, movement, and genuine relationship.

As we begin taking the first steps toward growing Solgave into Benton County, mornings like this are a pretty beautiful reminder of where all of it started.

Cat sitting is so much more than putting down food and scooping a litter box. 🐾

Genoah recently cared for Cynthia’s crew—Casper, Midnight, Ms. Kitty and Tuffy—and absolutely knocked it out of the park.

Each cat had a different personality, living space, routine and set of needs. In a single timed visit, Genoah prepared individualized meals, refreshed food and water, cleaned multiple litter areas, handled scheduled care instructions, checked on every cat she could see, watered plants—and still made time for brushing, play, affection and some very funny feline conversation.

That is what experienced professional cat sitting looks like.

Our clients receive a detailed digital report after every visit, including:

Technically blind. Practically unstoppable. ❤️🐾

Meet Stevie.

This joyful little guy is part of a very special home that has opened its doors—and its heart—to several rescue dogs with unique needs.

Some animals come from beginnings we would rather not imagine. What we choose to focus on is what happens next: the safety they find, the love they’re given and the opportunity we have to add a little more care whenever their family is away.

Stevie may be blind, but he has plenty of energy and can find his way around remarkably well. Judging from this picture, he certainly has no trouble finding his toys—or the joy in a wide-open yard.

This household has taught our team a great deal. Victoria and Kailan have learned how to navigate several different personalities and care needs, including the gentle palliative support Elroy now requires. I’m incredibly grateful to have caregivers who approach these situations with patience, confidence and compassion.

Over the last year, we’ve built this relationship through overnight stays and drop-by visits. Every visit has deepened our connection with this remarkable group of animals and the big-hearted people who rescued them.

Senior dogs, special-needs dogs and blind dogs have a way of touching our hearts just a little more deeply.

Thank you, Stevie, for shining a light for the rest of us.

You clearly don’t need sight to know exactly where joy lives. ❤️

Slim goes way back with Solgave—far enough that his family was with us before Time To Pet, before many of our current systems and through several different generations of caregivers.

Over the years, at least five or six members of the Solgave team—including me—have had the privilege of caring for him. Most of those people have since moved into new chapters of their lives. Kailan is the thread that remains, carrying that relationship forward today as my lead.

Solgave has grown and changed. Slim’s family has grown and changed. And this sweet little dog has grown into a very special senior who now needs a little more patience, understanding and tenderness.

Businesses tend to measure their history in years, revenue and milestones.

Animals measure it in familiar voices, gentle hands and the people who keep coming through the door.

Slim, you were here before so much of what Solgave is today. We are deeply grateful for every person who has loved you along the way—and especially for the beautiful connection you now share with Kailan.

We love you, buddy. ❤️🐾

I bribed my team with coffee this week. ☕️🐾

Five dollars each for three of their favorite photos—an easy way to thank them while letting me see our work through their eyes without digging through hundreds of check-ins.

Kailan sent me this one of her and Blue. Gulp.

This was one of their final visits together. I’ve already shared what Blue’s family has meant to Solgave, so I won’t retell the entire story. But for several years, they represented the largest client relationship our company has ever had.

When I look at this photo, though, that isn’t what I see.

I see Kailan—someone who has grown alongside this company—sitting with a dog she truly knows and loves. I see years of consistency, trust and thousands of ordinary moments that quietly became a real relationship.

Some clients help your business grow. The most meaningful ones also help you become better at what you do.

This is why I asked my staff for their favorite photos. Check-ins show me that the work was completed. Images like this remind me that something much deeper was built along the way.

Thank you, Blue. Thank you to the family who trusted us. And thank you, Kailan, for loving him well enough that this became one of your favorites, too. ❤️🐾

🐾 RARE LABOR DAY WEEKEND OPENINGS! 🐾

This is not a post we’ve been able to make for the last several holidays.

Solgave has repeatedly reached capacity and had to stop accepting new holiday requests. That’s a wonderful problem for a small business—but it also meant saying no to families we would have loved to help.

This year is different.

We’ve built the largest and deepest care team in Solgave’s history, with talented caregivers eager to take on more work. That gives us a rare opportunity to welcome a few additional families this Labor Day weekend.

We currently have openings for pet-sitting visits. Limited overnight care may also be possible, depending on your location, schedule and pets’ needs.

Some seeds take three years to grow. 🌱🐾

I first met Joan and her husband more than three years ago, back when Solgave was still small enough that nearly every new relationship began directly with me.

They didn’t end up needing us then, but apparently the seed stayed planted.

Three years later, they came back—and this time, instead of doing everything myself, I got to send one of our newest full-time team members to care for Breezie and Kipling.

And she absolutely crushed it. ❤️

Not simply because we gained another client, although I’m certainly grateful for that. It was realizing that this couple met me years ago, believed in what I was building, and carried that trust with them.

Now Solgave has grown enough that someone else on my team can walk through their door and deliver the same kind of care I hoped to promise them three years ago.

That’s a kind of growth you can really feel.

Plant good seeds. Take care of them. Then give them time.

Sometimes they bloom when you’ve almost forgotten you planted them.
