β˜€οΈ Hot weather can be dangerous for pets β€” especially because dogs and cats do not cool themselves the same way people do.

Dogs primarily release heat by panting, while cats may seek cool surfaces, groom more often, or become less active. But when temperatures and humidity rise, those natural cooling methods may not be enough.
Our latest blog explains how dogs and cats regulate body temperature, why overheating can happen quickly, and what warning signs pet owners should watch for.

If your pet is panting excessively, acting weak, breathing abnormally, vomiting, collapsing, or just doesn’t seem right after heat exposure, contact your veterinary team right away.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lorraina Teitler Marks a New Chapter in Her Career at Cliffdale Animal Hospital

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. β€” August 18, 2026 β€” Cliffdale Animal Hospital is proud to recognize Lorraina Teitler, RVT, on achieving a significant milestone in her veterinary career: earning her credentials as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT).

For Lorraina, the accomplishment represents much more than a professional credential. It is the culmination of a journey built on dedication, perseverance, and a genuine passion for caring for animals and supporting the families who love them.

"It feels really good to have a license to do what I want to do and to have that security in this field," Lorraina says. "Personally, I'm proud that I completed this journey. It means a lot to know I've accomplished something that makes the people around me proud."
Lorraina's journey at Cliffdale Animal Hospital was previously highlighted in a staff feature, where she shared her passion for veterinary medicine and her commitment to providing compassionate care to patients. Since that interview, she has continued to grow both personally and professionally, taking the next important step in her career by earning her RVT credentials.

A Milestone That Opens New Doors
Becoming an RVT has expanded Lorraina's professional opportunities and given her greater flexibility to continue developing her skills. Her new credentials allow her to take on additional responsibilities while exploring the areas of veterinary medicine that most inspire her.

"Having my credentials gives me the opportunity to continue learning and growing," Lorraina explains. "I'm excited to see where this next step takes me and to keep building my experience."

At Cliffdale Animal Hospital, veterinary technicians play an important role in the care of patients, working alongside veterinarians and the hospital's broader medical team to provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality care. Lorraina's achievement strengthens the knowledge and expertise she brings to that team.
Looking Toward Emergency Medicine, Anesthesia and Dentistry
Although earning her RVT credentials is an important achievement, Lorraina sees it as the beginning of her next chapter rather than the destination.

Her immediate goal is to continue working in general practice while gaining additional experience in emergency medicine. Exposure to emergency and critical-care cases will allow her to expand her clinical knowledge and develop a strong foundation for future specialization.
"My goal is to stay in general practice while working in emergency medicine on the side," she explains. "That experience will introduce me to more critical care cases, and eventually I'd love to focus on anesthesia and dentistry."

Her interest in anesthesia and dentistry reflects her desire to continue challenging herself, expanding her skill set, and finding ways to make an even greater difference in the lives of veterinary patients.

A Journey Driven by Passion and Purpose
For Lorraina, becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician represents both a personal accomplishment and an exciting professional opportunity. The achievement reflects the dedication she has invested in her education and career while reinforcing her commitment to continued learning.

Cliffdale Animal Hospital is proud to celebrate this accomplishment and the passion Lorraina brings to her work every day.

"Lorraina's achievement is something our entire team is proud to celebrate," said the Cliffdale Animal Hospital team. "Her dedication to learning, her compassion for her patients, and her commitment to growing as a veterinary professional make her an important part of our team. We look forward to seeing all that she accomplishes in this next chapter."

As she continues her career, Lorraina remains focused on providing excellent care to her patients while pursuing new experiences and opportunities to advance her skills.

For Lorraina, the journey is far from over. With her RVT credentials now in hand, she is ready to continue learning, growing, and making a meaningful impact on the lives of pets and the people who care for them.
