Pulling, folding, snagging...
If your shears are doing any of these, it isn't your technique. It's the edge.
Dull shears don't just slow you down. They tug on the coat, leave a choppy finish, and make your hands work harder than they should by the end of the day. Dogs feel the difference, and so do you.
Here are the five signs it's time to send them in:
Pulling hair instead of cutting cleanly
Hair folding over the blade instead of lying flat
Snagging mid-cut
Uneven, patchy results
More pressure and hand strain than usual
Whitman's is in Ocala, Florida right now at the World Equestrian Center for the PWDCA National Specialty, through Friday, October 9.
Ralph Whitman has sharpened shears and clipper blades for groomers and handlers for more than 30 years, and he turns them around on site. Bring yours by the Whitman's setup and leave with blades that cut clean.
